Slaf slowly improves and is bridged.
Laf is traded for and signed medium-long term, bet on his upside in a top 6 role
Ylonen signed after producing in a full time top 9 role
one of Barron or LM plays top 4 and hopefully can handle it
throw cash and term at a UFA RD. Let Lane cook on PP, even go 11F 7D if you have to shelter him
cap expected to go up massively after this season. But possible they can LTIR gally by this time.
Laf trade is if they actually shop him. if they do habs should make a strong offer

if caufield wanted that contract, pretty sure it would've been done by now

not sure New York accepts, at the end of the day that's basically 4 2nds for a 1st overall pick 3 years removed, imagine someone offering that for slafkovsky in 2 years, we would laugh in their face

"Season 2025-26"

We're on 2023-24 next year
2024-25 after that and then Caufield would sign
He has 2 years to prove he's a 40+ Goal scorer that deserves 8+ million
But if he's injured the next two years like the first 2 he'll be looking at 6.85-7m
Issue comes back to what he said in his interview about his contract negotiations "i still think i havent proved i earned it yet" when asked if he wanted a Suzuki like deal.
Suzuki IMO keeps him Humble and on the Same Page . Similar to Getzlaf/Perry with a similar commitment to building a team around them and leaving enough money to do it.

He never got injured the first year, they just sent him to the A. he got injured once and could've played thru it if we were competing. All this talk that he needs to "prove he can stay healthy" is unfounded. Best deal for the team would be the longest term possible.

The Rangers are in win now mode so why would they trade Laffy for things that don't help them win now? The wouldn't. If they trade Laffy it will be for an area of immediate need like top 6 RW.
