Any Spurgeon trade to EDM would probably have to be dollar-in-dollar-out where the dollars leaving EDM are cap dumps and MNs compensation comes in the form of futures. EDM is in total win now mode - they're not removing key pieces like Ekholm.

It'd prob have to be some combo of Ceci, Foegele, Yams and picks for balance....idk it's hard to see a fit due to both teams' cap situations, but that's prolly the best shot at finding something mutual.

This seems like a massive overpayment for Lindholm. He has become a great center don't get me wrong but you are losing a top tier prospect, a good defensive prospect, a younger center that can be a 3rd line maybe 2nd line guy if the pieces are right and a mid-first this year. On top of that 2 2nds and a fifth. Its absolutely too high of a price to pay when you could potentially have Kuzy from the caps for only Khusnutdinov and a second.

Granted he is a couple years older than Lindholm but he has the same type of offensive capabilities for a cheaper price tag and your young guys can develop for a center role in the future.

Similar offensive production sure, but Lindholm also comes with a sweetheart of a cap hit for the coming season, plays Selke level defense, is a top end PKer and doesn't have the same baggage and attitude concerns.

I'm not saying it is a good deal for the Wild, since I am not familiar with the pieces, but Lindholm should net significantly more than Kuz.

The reasoning for the package is that Lindholm is young, is a very good defensive center and is a almost 70 point player and with Kaprizov i take the assumption his game will elevate to a PPG, also with Khusnutdiov I dont see how he fits into the wild lineup when they have Gaudreau, and JEEK locked up long term, and they will have Rossi coming up, and he’s too valueable to play 4th line center so for that reason i got rid of him, I think its fair but the only piece i would move out of that trade is either Spacek or one of the 2nd rounders

A free agent to be traded doesn't cost that much even signed with extension. Gave up too much. Spurgeon isn't waiving
