Who is the best Center that could be traded for with this package

Created by: bcooke
Team: 2023-24 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 1, 2023
Published: Jun. 1, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Expecting Toews to get an extension worked out to stay in COL. But in the event that they can't, what is the best they could do at 2C for Toews and 2 1st round picks.

Left some names off. Really just curious on value.
Trades
1.
COL
  1. Bemström, Emil
  2. Roslovic, Jack
  3. 2023 1st round pick (LAK)
CBJ
  1. Toews, Devon
Additional Details:
CBJ fits as a potential partner in a 3 way deal in the event that the team trading away a top quality center to COL does not need Toews either because LD isn't a need or they aren't cup contenders. 3rd party could swap out CBJ assets as needed that are equal in value to Toews. This package nets a 1st + young wing + NHL center to fill out center depth for the team trading to COL.
2.
COL
  1. Lindholm, Elias

Isn't Newhook groomed to be 2C anyways?
I'm not very familiar with him, but he seems to have hit the sophomore wall last season. Would like him to grow in an Avs jersey but are they patient enough?

Yes, he was seen as a possible 2C but it remains to be seen if that will happen. He's young so there's lots of room to grow but the Avs may feel like they can afford to wait for him to become that 2C. But that does not mean they should trade him - he can still grow to be an effective middle-six player even at wing and they aren't going to find anything more palatable in terms of cap situation and untapped talent; in short, they can't afford to trade him unless there is a LOT coming back that they can work with.

I'd say Pettersson is 100% a guy you'd build a team around. He's a 1C, just finished top 10 in the league in points, and plays any and all situations including 5 on 5, PP1, PK1, OT, and SO. I don't see how you wouldn't want to build a team around that kind of guy. I do agree though that neither team would want to do that swap, but the answer to the original question of who is available is that Vancouver would want to trade Petey as much as the Avs would be interested in trading Makar.

He's an impressive player to be sure. I'd say, in that case, the market value is probably about equal so nobody would have to add. Wouldn't that be something, to see two players like that traded for each other? That never happens but it would be about as earth-shattering as anything I could think of.

The Tkahcuk deal is a perfect example of why those trades don’t happen. Calgary looked like they got a steal of a deal swapping Tkachuk for Huberdeau while also getting Weegar, Schwindt, and a 1st. 1 year later and Florida wins the deal by a mile after Huberdeau fell off a cliff. But Calgary could still win the deal if Huberdeau bounces back next year. You have no clue if a guy is truly a superstar or if he’s just putting up numbers because of the guys around him, chemistry, coaching, etc.

I have a feeling a new coach will help both Hubie and Naz - Sutter was a bad coach for that team

Being from Montreal, I immediately think of the Weber-Subban trade. Weber's health problems combined with Subban's nomination for the Norris nearly cost Bergevin his job. I retrospect though, MTL won the trade by quite a margin.
