Anderson is not coming back to Toronto, especially for 3 million.

LOL! I actually borrowed a similar deal to this from another Habs fan and was surprised they included Xjhejak. Was worth a shot!

Muzzin's contract is worthless, so why are Der-Arguchintsev and two fifths worth a second-round draft pick, even an over-the-horizon one?

What part of that deal is worth a 2nd? If anything you'd have to give the hawks a 2nd to take on muzzins cap dump

Take out the 2nd going to the Leafs and the Hawks still decline

No one here has yet to give an intelligent reason why he will not come back to a place he is very familiar with and is a Cup contender. Sure, there might have been some friction during his last season with the buds but that's ancient history with a new GM and possibly new coach. 3M is lower but still well within the ballpark of other comparables.

There's a possibility the Hawks might need Muzzin's 5.625M cap hit (only 2M in actual cash owed) to hit the cap floor. If that's the case then at minimum that package should garner a 3rd rounder. SDA alone can probably fetch a 23' 4th rounder.

There’s always the possibility but after leaving with some friction and more importantly some doubt in his ability to win in the playoffs — why would he come back here for 3 million when he’s likely to make more elsewhere and not have to deal with the doubt?

Canucks would consider. I think Dermott will probably go unqualified and if that’s the plan, getting anything of value back for him instead is a win.

Hawks won't have problem getting to the cap floor. And they certainly wouldn't spend a 2nd for a guy who isn't even able to play. That's terrible asset management for a rebuilding team.

Depends how much more he could make elsewhere. Most contenders are cap strapped and I don't see him going to a rebuilding or even middle of the pack team. Personally, I prefer him instead of Sammy for the playoffs and also as a mentor to Woll.

So many teams need goaltending and while he’s no sure thing he’s still one of the more attractive options out there. My guess is that he gets 4 million on a short term deal. He’s a better puck handler and more positionally sound than Sammy but Sammy is better athletically and younger. I wonder if Sammy will mature and become better or will he always be so erratic in the net?

Woll is not waiver exempt — it’s hard to imagine a scenario where they carry 3 goalies.

That's a great question as Sammy, despite sick talent has yet to garner 100% confidence in the playoffs. Not saying Freddy has either but he's less erratic.

Woll should start the season as our backup, hopefully evolving to No. 1 within the next couple of years. A big part of the appeal for me in moving Sammy is that it will net us some much needed draft capital while filling his spot with Freddie.

A 3rd isn’t much when you consider the importance of goaltending and the fact Sammy had a 919 save % — top tem in the league I think. He’s only 26 — 1.5 years older than Woll and still has time to mature.

Agreed. In all likelihood, he probably signs a bridge deal with the Leafs. One thing we can probably bank on is Murray being bought out if no reasonable deals materialize.

I make this deal if im the Habs. Wont be playing Anderson in the playoffs anyway and Xhekaj should not be in the top 6 in the future. Might have to add because that Murray contract would just be bought out instantly. So maybe Robertson as well or a 2nd round pick
