There is absolutely no reason to trade Marino. We are moving on from Severson. Marino is a better defenseman and on a very good contract. Severson will be well-overpaid this summer.

I like Marino, doubt they move him and I don't think I would give the 13th pick for him. Good hockey player, but he gets hurt alot.

Columbus doesn’t have room for VO. There isn’t a PP spot or a top-six wing spot. They’ll use their assets on things they need much more critically, like defense and center. I’m begging you Sabres fans to get creative and choose one of the 30 other teams for VO trades. I know you can do it!

Top 4 RD who fits the team perfectly, in his prime, with a good contract. Marino does not seem like a player who is always injured. I would easily trade #13 for him.

He would fit very nicely in your middle 6 and can be flipped if needed at the deadline for more than you paid

I think yes, very underrated top 4 RD. I don't know why Pittsburgh traded him so cheaply, it was a big mistake on their part.

Really, seems he's been hurt a bit. He played last year but he's missed time every year with injuries.

Have you seen the dates of the injuries? Mostly short-term injuries that many players have. By this logic, Dahlin is also hurt player. The same Chychrun would be more risky, because every season he missed a lot of games due to injuries, Marino is not like that.

OK, so missing 20 games one year and 18gms another year and his rookie year he broke his jaw are short term. He's a good hockey player, but I wouldn’t give the 13th pick for him IMO.

If you are a team that can win now, need a cost controlled shutdown defenseman for FOUR more seasons on the right side... he's worth it, but the 1st is not even enough to a team like the Devils that absolutely torched PIT on that trade and got something far more worth what they sent to them in Ty Smith and a 3rd. Marino is key to the Devils being a top team in the East next year.

You move assets to get what you need now, especially if it is about building a team for the long-term.

I do not understand trading 1sts for rentals at all, even late ones.

So some kind of injury years ago and a broken jaw? Seriously? I would easily trade 1st for him, because Marino is exactly what we need.

If Severson takes a hometown discount I'd heavily consider doing this

He missed 18 games this year, it's not just his Rookie year. Is he worth a 1st, probably but I don't think it's the 13th.

I don't get it, what's this year? You understand that all the years in the NHL matter, what kind of injury matters. A broken jaw is generally an accidental injury, Joki had a similar one recently. You can't say that a player is traumatic because of a broken jaw. It's one thing when a player often gets some kind of muscle injury or he has a chronic injury that constantly worries him, but a broken jaw or some minor injury when a player is absent for 3-7 days does not mean anything at all. You can also pay attention to concussions, if the player had a lot of them and they accumulate, this can scare you off. Marino doesn't seem to have any of that, so I don't know why his injuries bother you.

He is a top 4 RD, with a very good contract and term, in his prime, good in defense. A guy who will play with Power or Dahlin for 20+ minutes is what we need. I would trade #13 for him.

OK, let's take out the broken jaw, he still missed 28gms that year, 30gms the year after that, 1gm the following year and 18gms this past year. You have your opinion and I have mine. Yes he might be worth a 1st, but IMO not the 13th pick in the draft.

I think you missed the shortened season of Covid, there were no games 82 and he did not miss. So he missed one month with a facial injury in his first season in the NHL four years ago, then two consecutive seasons without any long-term injury, and missed 18 games this season. This is definitely not a traumatic player who is out for a long time.

You are right I miss3d that. Still doesn't change my mind that he might be worth a 1st, but not the 13th.

That's cool, and I am probably wrong. Just think it would be odd when he wouldn't use the pick at the TDL on some pretty good players.
