Kicking the tires on this scenario:

Wild trades assets to Vegas to get them to take Staal instead of Dumba/Scandella. Vegas then flips Staal to STL, who could use another C.

      Staal is coming off a great season and is on a good contract; I expect his trade value to be a little higher than that. It does sound like a great idea, though, and we would still have our first rounder to hopefully develop into a quality center when Staal's term is up. Maybe one of Walman/Dunn/Schmaltz + 27th OA instead of Jaskin, who is essentially a bust/4th liner.

      Yea I think you likely closer to the reality on the price for Staal. I ultimately chose Jaskin simply to keep the salary under the cap. A trade to shed salary would be necessary if Staal was flipped to the Blues.
