Description
It’s getting closer all the time. Should be scores of talent well into Rounds 2-3.
ROUND 1TEAMORIGINALPLAYERDETAILS
1Logo of the Chicago Blackhawks-EZ choice here.
2Logo of the Anaheim Ducks-Ducks take a well rounded C. Hobey Baker Winner.
3Logo of the Columbus Blue Jackets-Leo proved he could C a top line at the WHC for Sweden.
4Logo of the San Jose Sharks-Sharks will be a dumpster fire until their aging contracts expire so they can definitely afford to wait for MM.
5Logo of the Montreal Canadiens-Habs easily take a stud top pair RD that’s already stacking up against top competition in Europe. Habs have everything else they need in terms of prospects positions.
6Logo of the Arizona Coyotes-Danny Briere reincarnated.
7Logo of the Philadelphia Flyers-Flyers take the U18s MVP in a heartbeat. Smith should really go higher but this Draft will be interesting that way.
8Logo of the Washington Capitals-Caps need C. His size and skill combo fits what the Caps love.
9Logo of the Detroit Red Wings-Yzerman and Wings scouts are hard to predict. I see them taking Moore mostly because they’ve scouted him hard and they need a smooth skating C to run with Raymond.
10Logo of the St. Louis Blues-I like ASP for most any team in this area of the Draft. With most of the top C’s gone already I see them taking an Erik Karlsson clone.
11Logo of the Vancouver Canucks-Canucks need everything so take BPA. RL is a Power Forward template.
12Logo of the Arizona CoyotesLogo of the Ottawa SenatorsAZ takes a power forward to complement their other top forwards.
13Logo of the Buffalo Sabres-Sabres have it all except a top 4 RD to flank with either Power or Dahlin.
14Logo of the Pittsburgh Penguins-Pens and Dubas opt for pure skill to flank Crosby or Malkin.
15Logo of the Nashville Predators-Preds take a versatile F with size and skill.
16Logo of the Calgary Flames-Flames need a c to build around. ND is a solid 200 foot player. Sounds like a Flame.
17Logo of the Detroit Red WingsLogo of the New York IslandersYzerman could likely trade down or move this pick to upgrade the roster for more immediate needs. Otherwise I like Barlow here since he’s dropped in this Mock and many others as well.
18Logo of the Winnipeg Jets-Jets have some soul searching to do but they won’t search past Kasper here. Larger skilled RW.
19Logo of the Chicago BlackhawksLogo of the Tampa Bay LightningHawks take a speedy power forward with size to flank Bedard. Great Draft for them this year.
20Logo of the Seattle Kraken-Sale falls to Seattle. Super skilled but had consistency issues that can be worked on.
21Logo of the Minnesota Wild-AC drops in a loaded Draft but he still has huge upside.
22Logo of the Columbus Blue JacketsLogo of the Los Angeles KingsCBJ loads up at C with Yager.
23Logo of the New York Rangers-Inconsistency issues again here but Ritchie has the tools. Rangers need large skilled C.
24Logo of the Nashville PredatorsLogo of the Edmonton OilersTrade a top pair LD. Draft a top pair LD. This guy could and maybe should go higher but the Russian factor keeps him back.
25Logo of the St. Louis BluesLogo of the Toronto Maple LeafsWhen I see Stramel I see the template of a St Louis Blue.
26Logo of the San Jose SharksLogo of the New Jersey DevilsMay as well take another Russian. Tower of Power But.
27Logo of the Colorado Avalanche-Avs have needs everywhere after trading so many picks etc.
28Logo of the Toronto Maple LeafsLogo of the Boston BruinsLeafs likely pkg this pick with Matt Murray and move down a round or so. Otherwise they need D.
29Logo of the St. Louis BluesLogo of the Dallas StarsBlues grab another Swedish D to pair with ASP.
30Logo of the Carolina Hurricanes-Canes take a swing at an offensive RD.
31Logo of the Montreal CanadiensLogo of the Florida PanthersWhy not grab another sturdy RD ??
32Logo of the Vegas Golden Knights-BPA for Vegas. Can never have too many RD in your system. Could pair up nicely with either Cormier or Chayka.

Don't wanna critique Moore too much, but Raymond already has a center.
Funnily enough, it's Moore's biggest comparison.

Kasper Halttunen to WPG at 18? Really? I have him at 24, so not far off. I have Cristall, Musty, But and Sale all above him though.

I see a lot of people suggesting that the Rangers need C depth when they have their top 3 centers locked up for the next 4 years minimum. Not sure I understand it

Not sure who the Wings take there if not Moore. ASP? Leonard?

The Jets will likely tap into their NCAA scouting prowess and take another American but they always want out.

My bet is Leonard. I love ASP but, unless Yzerman deviates from his standard, he's too small.

Ahh Lukas Raymond. Smallish but super skilled. Ditto for ASP. I’d take a flyer on that guy.

Raymond is 5'11" and a winger.
ASP is 5'9" and a defenseman.

ASP is 5’11 and 181 lbs according to this site. High end skill sometimes trumps size.

Whatever site i looked at says he's 5'9" so we'll meet at 5'10".
Would likely be the shortest defenseman on the roster by 4 inches barring a Johansson (6') call up.

Walman (6'2") - Seider (6'4")
Edvinsson (6'6") - XXXX
Maatta (6'2") - Chiarot (6'3")
Wallinder (6'4")

I’d pair him with Edvinsson. That’s a great 2nd D option.

You'd get no complaints from me.

I’d take a chance on high end skill. Reinbacher would be the preferred choice but he should be gone by then. Detroit should be much closer to a playoff spot next season imo.
