Can you imagine how much more money we would have if we traded Joseph?!

At least like 7 dollar

Debrincat gets more than Norris.

He has a longer track record of success. Age at signing is different, too-- Norris can still cash in big on a long term deal at 30. This would be Debrincats only long term deal most likely as he'll be 33 by the time this deal would expire.

I've been back and fourth on this but I came to the conclusion that I'd rather keep Joseph and bank on a bounce back season playing with better players than trade him and try to find a better replacement for a cheaper price. He was a plus player on a team deep in the minuses. That has to count for something. He's also a guy you can plug in the top 6 if you wanted a more balanced top 9 which has worked for them in the spurts

How much money do we really save? Wouldn't it only be like 900k or something?

1,333,333. Multiply that by 3 and you get toronto's savings. Kind of a no brainer

qualifying offers are for 1 year deals only. Sens could also go to team elected arb and get that reduced by 15% because he's clearly not a $9M player

Gotcha. I didn't think he was worth that much but I'd seen that number (and the 10 million QO for Timo Meyer) thrown around a lot so I was curious how he got lower. Thx

again those players will be 28 & 29 when their contract is done.... I would expect Cat to be in that same ballpark really as those 2, not because he's as good, just they way contracts work. Next man up. They also signed while the cap was slightly lower, but both around 10% of the ceiling.

If he wants anything that starts with an 8, the sens are better off to trade him and not look back. You can get a $4M player and put him on the LW of Norris and Bath and that second line will do just fine. Don't need an 8M player that's like your 5th or 6th best forward

Oh I agree with you that he's not worth that-- but what's the real difference between your 7950000 & 8500000 ?

Trade partners may not be lining up to spend it on him either

The difference is the cap space I have in this post can't even buy a pair of skates and that's assuming Toronto even buys out Murray instead of just sending him to Robidas island

TOR will not buyout... costs too much against the cap in 24/25 season (~2million)

They either pay $4.7M next season or they pay 600k next season and $2M the following season. Seems like a no brainer to buy-out, especially with the cap going up

Depends on Matthews & Nylander extension values, and a few other roster decisions.... I would guess if he's not traded, he's staying put to keep 24/25 out of it.... But Treliving could see differently.

I think I disagree. apart from Ottawa he's always been a fourth line player and this past year he fell back down to earth. he only scored 3 goals... at almost 3m... he's getting paid like a decent 3 line player but he's a fourth liner who'd should've been around 1m-1.2m
