Just signings no trades

Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 2, 2023
Published: Jun. 2, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
THis one falls under, no moves, just using what you have and wait again for another year.

Kovacevic - to Laval for more development;
Wideman to Laval, unfortunately he needs to play a role, and I would pay him to go down to the AHL and train our younger guys until someone hurt tehmselves and then I can bring him back up (Don't think a team will take him).

First pick will either be Smith or Leonard (Unless both get taken and we're left with Michkov, who yes, is a only contender to Bedard, but still.. the risk would be high of taking him if they can't get him and what's left of his family out of Russia safely in three years). I woudl put the pick on the wing with Suzuki and Caufield just to get that first NHL experience and not have to deal with the pressure of faceoffs right away. If it doesn't pan out in the first 10, you can send him to Laval for further development or bring him back to the second or third line until he gets ready.

Second first rounder, I would go for someone LIke Morin. Able to move the puck on the blue line, able to have an offensive side and a good size.
OR
Noah Dower Nilsson who's another Center with offensive skills and may still be on the board when the Habs select their FLA pick.

I could be wrong, but I've gotta think if Caufield was willing to sign that, it'd already be done, no?

Dunno, no one knows right now if it's the years or the money that's blocking the negiciations. Habs have the bigged end of the stick right now, but you don't want to play that game with a guy who you want to be your future scorer. If so, then ask around who wants him, and trade him for something that could have a similar return .. if there is a team out there willing to put up more cash or less years.

Some say he wants around 8.5M$/yr for 5 years; others say he want over 10M$/yr if Habs want him for 8 years; then you have those saying they want to lock him under Suzuki's return between 7 to 7.5M$/yr for 8 years.. SO much speculation out there.

With zero actual clue, I'd guess it's the term. Cap is *supposed* to take a major hike over the next few years, so it really wouldn't surprise me if he wants a bridge deal to then have a major pay day 3 or 4 years down the road. That being said though, that's a dangerous game to play given that he's 22, has already had major shoulder surgery, and has the type of body that will *likely* get beaten around.

As a non-Habs fan though, I do really like him. Still dreaming of reuniting him with Zegras tears of joy

Well done sir! Nice to see it get done for the Habs. If he can stay healthy, that’s groovy.

I will hope a career similar to Marty St-Louis. Small player, able to stay healthy and be a starring player of his team. If he can bulk up his core and legs (which St-Louis was a freaking legend similar to Jagr's legs and core) he may well have a long career ahead of him.
