Offseason v3 w Descrip

Created by: phillyjabroni
Team: 2023-24 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 2, 2023
Published: Jun. 2, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade #1
To COL - Kevin Hayes (50% retained)
To PHI - Sean Behrens

A little ambitious and he may still be untouchable, but I think if these is an unreasonable ask, 27th overall and Alex Beaucage would yield a similar value in return for me. COL gets a player who can play throughout the lineup and be its 2nd line center for a reasonable salary under 4M for the next 3 years.

Trade #2
To DET: Travis Konecny
To PHI: Filip Zadina, 17th overall, 43rd overall

Flyers get to add another 1st rounder in a deep draft and an early 2nd rounder (the worst of DET's 3). Zadina hopefully can get a jumpstart in the change of scenery and get close to his junior days of pocketing goals -- similar to Tippett this past year. DET gets a guy who can help them as they look to get back into the playoffs.

Trade #3
To SEA: Ivan Provorov
To PHI: Chris Driedger, 20th overall, 57th overall

Hakstol gets to reunite with Provorov and he doesn't have the pressure of being the #1 defensemen on the team. He gets to play on a team with a defensive structure that fits him better and PHI gets draft capital in return. Still only 26 and has 2 years remaining, he can become an important part of a growing SEA team that spent its last two high draft picks on centers. No retention in this deal, but the difference in the buried cap hit of Driedger being moved is more favorable in the short run for SEA

Trade #4
To STL: Scott Laughton, 95th overall
To PHI: Nikita Alexandrov, 29th overall

Speculation has been that STL would use one or both of its additional 1st round picks to trade for players to help get them back into contention. The difference between 29 and 95 is worth about a middle/late 2nd round pick. My idea is that Laughton would fetch a 1st round pick in a trade to any contender and Alexandrov bridges the gap.

Trade #5
To ARI - Ryan Ellis
To PHI - John Farinacci

Arizona will need contracts to get to the cap floor and a perfect candidate is LTIR-eligible Ryan Ellis. Flyers get a solid bottom-six prospect who has already said he will test FA. Maybe the early negotiation rights might help sign him. If not, no harm done.

Pretty solid, only concern is Driedger may put Philly on his M-NTC.

Not sure if Detroit would give up their pick, but TK would help them, and for me personally hockey feels better when Philly and Detroit are competitive.

I don’t think the Blues would trade a 1st for a center when they have an easier time resigning O’Reilly in free agency

Like the deals and they don’t seem too unreasonable if at all. Would have a nice draft haul.

Blues decline. The blues GM specifically said he would trade those picks for players under 26 with multiple years on their contract. Laughton does not fit what they are looking for and also the blues are not giving up a young bottom 6 center like Alexandrov who will be cheap.

AZ doesn't need dead contracts to make the floor. That's why they bailed out CLB: so other teams can't pretend AZ needs them instead of vice versa.

This is one of the first Konecny to Detroit deals that makes me pause, meaning it's probably fair, meaning Detroit would need to at least consider it...

Good to know, wasn't aware of that. Like Alexandrov's game a lot

i agree, it's a pretty good one and something that the Flyers should consider as well. DET has been in the Yzerplan for, what, 5 years now. TK is coming in at the perfect time at a perfect age and has a friendly cap hit for the next 2 years. Stevie Y has made it so that when he is due for an extension, you guys will have plenty of room to do so.

Whilst I can't say the value is unfair I think the Avs would rather send the '24 1st to PHI as a gamble in this scenario than send Behrens who they are high on. The '23 1st similarly would be off the table.

I think its an over pay. Behrens is months removed from being USA's top dman in the WJC.
