The Blues were basically gifted Vrana, no GM would give them that much just to flip him. Nowhere near enough for Hellebuyck, the Penguins really don't have the assets to acquire him unless they include a quality roster player or two. Buying Granlund out is smart, but basically immediately negated with that Miles Wood signing. Wood is a fourth liner at best, worth less than half the contract you gave him.

EDM is neither interested in nor can they afford Rust.

Just because the Blues were gifted Vrana doesn’t mean they would accept this package. He was really good here so decline

Blues decline. Vrana is a low risk high reward player for us. I have no interest in the Rutta contract as well. IF Vrana is performing like the old Vrana he could potentially get a late 1st or two 2nds at the deadline. IF he isn't doing well then that's ok as he is only on a 1 year contract

The Blues are not adding cap in a Vrana trade, let alone for a piece they do not need.

Yea I can agree with that, it's a low risk situation. My point is that GMs know how little you gave up for him, so they won't buy high on him, but rather look elsewhere for a scoring winger.

Connor Hellebuyck > Casey DeSmith+Pittsburgh 2023 1st round pick 14th overall. Winnipeg passes.

Bryan Rust isn't waiving his NMC for any Canadian team, Besides Edmonton doesn't have a cap space to fit him.

And Daniel Vlader has already been promised to Detroit for a 3rd round pick.

And St Louis passes big time, They're not moving on from Vrana after just fleecing Detroit.
