Definitely don’t need Gibson for a first, second, and low/mid tier prospect. ANH doesn’t have any leverage at this point with Gibson wanting a change of scenery and the facts its been a really long time since he has had a good season

I don't like either of the trades...
A. The only two people I'd be willing to up stuff for on the Ducks are Zegras and Terry
B. Laine is way overpaid and I don't think he would work on the Hurricanes

I mean Rees could probably play in the NHL next year as a fourth liner kind of guy

Decline on both deals.

Gibson isn't worth that. He wasn't even a .900 goalie last year.

I don't mind Laine, but Necas just put up better numbers than Laine has in his entire career. Necas is probably worth more at this point

Why wouldn’t the Canes just re-sign Andersen and keep their futures?

I think people need to realize two things:

1) NHL GM’s have showed in the past that if they’re desperate for a goalie, they’ll over pay. While I don’t think Carolina is one of those teams, a team who desperately needs a goalie will pay a good price for Gibson, no matter how “hasn’t been good for 4 years” you think he is.

2) If you have followed Ducks hockey as close as a lot of Ducks fans on here have, you will understand why he’s going for a lot. Yes his stats are not the greatest, but the Ducks defense in the last 4 year have also been the worst we’ve seen in our history. What people don’t see (unless you really follow the Ducks) is how many games Gibson has stole for the Ducks when they had no intentions of winning. At LEAST 40% of the games the Ducks have played these past 4 years, they won because Gibson carried them.

The 1st is late, the prospect they have a ton of the same. 2nd is a 2nd .

Gibson probably bounces to .920 in Carolina

I think this trade value is spot on for what the Ducks want. I like the trade a lot, and I like Gibson in Carolina. I think he could very well bounce back with a defense like Carolinas. I think they may want a different prospect that’s younger just because our bottom 6 is jammed, but I like the trade value overall.

Gibson's under contract so what he wants is pretty easy to ignore. The fact that Anaheim can just sit on a trade gives them way more leverage in this scenario than you are claiming. Buffalo sat on Eichel for a long time, Arizona with Chychrun, St Louis with Tarasenko. Boston never did trade DeBrusk.

I'm not trying to say Anaheim can ask for the moon here, but let's not act like Gibson has them over a barrel.

I don't really see a reason for Carolina to make that CBJ trade unless they're just that desperate for a change or scenery. Necas is already a better player than Laine and will probably get even better. Plus he actually plays defense. Outside of the value difference, I don't know how well a player like Laine who just refuses to defend would work in Carolina's system that's so forecheck heavy and requires everyone to defend. I'd gladly take that swap as a CBJ fan though smile

That's probably a little bit pricey for Gibson given the past few years. Not sure Anaheim has the leverage to get that much for him (if they want that much, CAR just resign Freddy imo). If the cost is lower though, I absolutely love the move. I wouldn't be the least bit shocked if Gibson was a Vezina contender in Carolina. I still think he's got potential to be an elite goalie.

No an no.

Laine isn’t worth necas. The guy is warm butter soft and doesn’t forecheck, back check, or any check really. He isn’t a fit.

Gibson isn’t worth half that. The dude couldn’t get to .900 save percentage and had a GAA of 3.99. Anaheim can keep that mess.
