The funny thing it's not even close from a wings side. Leafs would have to add significant and 50% retain on all contracts. That's how untouchable No is.

Mathews 50% retained and extension in place
Marner 50% retained
Nylander 50% retained and extension in place

He’s a very good young D but Wings fans are being ridiculous. There are a handful of players you drive him to the airport for.

Well you may believe so, but I highly doubt it. Seider was Stevies 1st draft pick picks as Wing's GM, was the ROY and plays a position hard to get good players at, RHD. Marner is a stud, but his contract, being older and nothing else in the deal really is of real interest to Wings. They have two better picks and Steeves is not all that great of a propsect. Niemla is ok but nothing to right home about.

In general it would solve one position and leave a big hole on defense.

I thought it was pretty clear that was hyperbole... the point is that a team would need to vastly overpay for us to move Seider...

I still wouldn't do that deal. It would 100% be worth it, but how are we better off afterwards? It just wouldn't make sense.
