Just be honest with me here do you REALLY think that that entices us to move Carter Hart

Yeah I mean it’s only missing what two 1st round picks minimum?

laugh Cater Hart > Anton Forsberg+Mathieu Jospesh. Not even close.

Erik Karlsson ($3,500,000 retained) > Alex DeBrincat+Ottawa 2024 2nd round pick. DeBrincat isn't leaving a young up and coming Ottawa team for a Sharks team that's in a massive rebuild. What a joke.

That has to be the worst Karlsson trade I have seen. Good job!

Wait, you guys are really expecting 2 first round picks and more for Hart?

It seems that reality doesn't matter on both sides here

And Forsberg has outplayed Hart overall the last 2 years so not even interested to make the swap if I have to add pieces like a first round pick

If Debrincat comes with an extension or the Sharks trade him immediately, it's not a terrible deal, certainly not the worst I've seen offered. Debrincat is worth a fair amount, and doesn't have the terrible contract that Karlsson has.

Trading Timo was totally moot if we turn around and acquire Debrincat. There is zero sense in it imo.

No that was an exaggeration of a huge overpay for Hart because this offer is a giant underpay for him. In aggregate Fors has outplayed him by a small margin but at the same time is on a much better team and playing less games than Hart. He’s also 6 years older than Hart and doesn’t fit their window of contention like Hart does. There would absolutely need to be a 1st involved with Hart. I wouldn’t move him to OTT for less than 2024 1st, 2024 2nd, Lassi. Simply because they don’t have to move him and OTT needs a goalie of the future.

Oilers decline 100%. Both Broberg and Vinny are way better.

If you're planning on keeping him, sure. But if you're just acquiring him as a piece of the EK65 deal with the intention of moving him before the season starts I would have no issue with it.

Ok so a bit something in the middle

1st+ 2nd + Thomson sound a bit too much IMO, unless the picks were very very late… Thomson is worth another 2nd

They also can’t afford it cap wise. It would be stupid to give more for Hart than what they receive for DeBrincat and then not have the cap to fill the 2 spots at forward (that would be Dorion type moves)

And the goalie of the future has been Mads Sogaard for a while. This guy has extremely high potential. He was rushed a bit last season because multiple injuries but need to take more time with him. He has already shown signs of dominance. Plus, very hard for young goalies that came in and play behind a very flawed team defense. They can do well a few games but then will be exposed by the poor roster construction and the even worse hockey systems. DJ Smith and Pierre Dorion are among the worst if not the worst (they had Filip Gustavsson and gave him away stupidly)

There’s also Merilainen who has shown really nice things

If ur goalie prospects were truly that good, every OTT team on here wouldn’t be looking to trade for a goalie lol. If you want Hart you have to pay a hefty price nobody is giving him away

Well I have been a goalie for 30+ years and even then, I don't base myself on what posters do here lol

Sens fans are a bit in panic mode regarding goalies because :

- Forsberg is coming back from injury but indications say he won't be affected by it going forward. Most don't realize how good he was in 2021-22, he was a top-10 goalie that season, on a putrid defensive system no less. He was far better than any goalie who has played for Ottawa the last 6 years

- Dorion stupidly gave away Gustavsson, their pro scouting is utterly terrible

- Sogaard and Merilainen are very good but they are years away from being starters, one turned 22, the other turned 20

- Most people don't understand goaltending, so the regular fan might think that "Ottawa is one good goalie away from" but it's a lot more complicated than that

Finally, I don't absolutely want Hart. I would actually sign a UFA goalie for now and do other stuff to help my goalie tandem :

- bring a coaching staff who can instill strong hockey systems and who has any idea how to play 2-way hockey

- trade DeBrincat, bring 2 middle-six forwards ala Nick Paul and Connor Brown, improve 5v5 play

- get a physical stay at home RHD

I understand you want to get value for him, but it's not coming from me
