The Garland trade I have may not be enough. Curious as to if it is, or if not, what needs to be added?

Canucks retain 2.5 mil for 3 years and take on 3.5 mil Goodrow for 6 years? That’s terrible. Garland at 2.5 is a steal of a deal and would easily be worth a 1st round pick. 50 point player with 2 way game at 2.5 mil is a lot more valuable than a bunch of garbage

How about goodrow, bedard, and 2024 second for garland?

I’m assuming you mean Berard, but not even close. To get rid of 6 years of Goodrow, it’s going to cost you a lot. Then you’d have to pay for Garland. Canucks are not the team to dump Goodrow to. We have enough cap troubles already

If you are concerned about the cap issue, why on earth trade Vesey who is a very effective bottom 6 winger that also kills penalties and has a cap hit of just $800k?

Because the third and fourth lines were the rangers problem all year. They didn't contribute any offense, and Vesey at times, couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, in relation to the barn being the net, with the puck.

I feel like that fourth line would give me shades of the islanders with Clutterbuck and matt martin. Physical and can chip in some goals. It would a line other teams wouldn't want to play against.

I'm not sure what team you have been watching but there were many games where the 4th line of Goodrow/Vesey/Motte was the best line they had and the 3rd line of Laffy/Chytil/Kakko was also good most nights they played together. But the question was about Vesey, who played 81 games, scored 11 goals, 14 assists for 25 points and had about 100 hits, all playing bottom 6 minutes and was also good on the PK and his cap hit is the league minimum at $800k for 2 more years. Trading a guy like him makes the cap situation worse.

Canucks easily decline. Canucks would want at least a 1st for Garland 50% retained. Canucks would want at least another 1st for taking on Goodrow. So you'd be looking at Garland 50% retained for Goodrow and 2 1sts minimum, probably adding more. It's an absurd price to pay, but Vancouver does not have the cap space to be retaining on long-term deals or taking on cap dumps so they'd want a massive overpay to do so.

Not during the playoffs. And they were the best line for about 10 games of the season imo.

The entire team, except for Igor, had a bad playoffs. If we go by that standard then Panarin should go way before Vesey. And I disagree that the 4th line was best for about 10 games, it was a lot more than that. But, I will say again, the question is the CAP ISSUE, and IMO trading an effective 4th liner/PK'er that makes league minimum only makes the cap issue worse.

A 25 point 4th liner that makes less than $1M is definitely worth keeping around but the Avs accept.

Avs probably not interested but not a bad trade for face value

It's not an earth-shaking move for the Avs but does add some cheap capabe depth so they should probably consider it.

It's 4 years, and we can buy him out.
