The difficulty of improving the team while also not spending too many futures

Description
In order to build up on futures that we desperately need and make the team deeper, a difficult decision has to be made, keep a fab favorite and hope you also can resign him, or try to find the best deal for him. I think Dubas has the guts to listen to offers on Jake. I do not expect him to be anywhere but Pittsburgh next season BUT if he were moved it would need to include a first round pick and some young players who can play right now. Columbus might be the team willing to jump in on a big time point producer like Jake is and they may even feel confident in resigning him given they shocked many people by inking Johnny Hockey. It’s clear they don’t see a rebuild and they expect to be in the playoff hunt or they wouldn’t have made an off the wall hire for a veteran coach.

In the second trade, we can use our cap space to take Bailey and a 2nd rounder from the Isles. They’ll need to find a replacement for Mayfield given he’s going to have a lot of suitors on the open market. Rutta is priced reasonably and isn’t a bad fit for that team. Poulin is insurance to make sure they get some kind of “future” in the deal. Holmstrom is an underrated cheap forward we can use for depth. The trade is basically Rutta and Poulin for Holmstrom. The 2nd is to dump Bailey.

Delusional if you think Dubas has an easier start up with the Pens than what he was gifted from day 1 on the Leafs.

He has an old team… but it’s a time of winners. When has he ever had real leaders to work with? The Leafs didn’t fail because of Dubas. The Leafs failed because your star players are overrated.

The Pens are in rebuild mode, they hired Dubas thinking he is a boy genius with crafty trades and good Draft selections,

Sorry to say, your team misses the playoffs.

Lol no they aren’t rebuilding as long as Crosby is still playing out of his mind.

As long as 87 keeps playing like this we will not rebuild. That has been made incredibly clear and was made clear at the press conference this week. We will have a rebuild in 2-3 years.

Isles decline. Not moving a 2nd and Holmstrom for basically Rutta....

Isles need to keep whatever little young players we have. Bailey will spend his last year in the minors. We cannot and will not trade anymore draft capital because of 1 yr of Bailey.
