The Jets aren't giving up good players for cap dumps and a no value prospect.

Los Angeles declines. The combined cap hit of Edmundson and Allen is $7.35 million and the combined cap hit of Durzi and Petersen is $6.7 million. We would do better to keep Petersen and trade Durzi separately for a draft pick or two.

No one is taking Anderson or Matheson without a few top 15 unprotected 1sts coming with each. Those are probably 2 of the top 5 worst contracts in the league. You don't have enough there to dump one of them, never mind both of them.

LMAO, Matheson has a cheaper contract than Pionk and out scored him in half as many games. If that is one of the worst contracts in the league then Pionk's is the absolute worst!

Jets are not trading their top goalie prospect with Helle unsigned.

No interest in Matheson as it is mostly a lateral move with an extra year of commitment.

Anderson no doubt has Winnipeg on his no trade list.

Need a guy that can help now as part of a Dubois deal OR a top prospect. Not the 31/32nd pick .

Now Matheson is a cap dump?! He's really freaking good.

Listen I'm not arguing with you about trade values and all the rest, but Matheson is just plain better than Schmidt. Ask Sidney Crosby if you don't believe me or any Pens fan on this website how good he is

I don't think so. I know Pittsburgh insisted that Montreal take his contract in the Petry trade, as they needed to clear a bad contract. I can understand he may be good in Montreal, but that doesn't change what he is. Almost 5.0 mil for an average bottom pair 29 YO is a lot.

He wouldn't waive for Winnipeg anyways though.

Not disagreeing Matheson is better. Just not the value /position the Jets need.

How can one be so ignorant/asshole/homer and have 12k posts?

That's rude man. Say he's wrong. Say he has no idea what he's talking about when valuing players proposed in trades to the Jets, but please don't call him ignorant or an asshole.

Regardless of what you may think, if you try and engage with him, he will never make it personal the way you did.

You really do not have a leg to stand on here sir. Matheson is to Montreal what Morrissey is to Winnipeg.

If you ask most Pens fans around here, they will tell you that It's their opinion that Pittsburgh would have made the playoffs instead of Winnipeg if they had not traded Matheson.

Okay, I probably do throw the "cap dump" term around too much, especially for Montreal players. However, I do remember that Pittsburgh fans did consider him one of the worst contracts on their team a few short years ago.

I mean if you look at his trade history, he's never been traded for much of value, why? I would think it's probably because he doesn't carry a lot of value.

Anyways, I think we can leave it as Matheson isn't waiving for Winnipeg and since Winnipeg already has too many LHD they're not going to be looking for another one that is 29 and paid on the high side when they are trading one of their prime assets, as he doesn't improve Winnipeg enough to make it worthwhile.

    How does that sound?

Progress at least. Zero chance Matheson, who was born in Montreal, and who's agent up until 1 year ago was Kent Hughes, is traded.

He was not a throw in for a cap dump, he was a player our GM valued and targeted.

When creating a trade, you can include the retention in the trade box with that player. Just know that when entering the dollar amount of the retention, don't use commas.
