slight difference is that Debrincat has two 40 goal seasons under his belt. Think he is going to come it a little bit higher than that.

Debrincat should come a little higher, right under Brady Tkachuk. Give him 8.15 x 8 years

Don't see it as being all that comparable. DeBrincat is more proven, his contract will be mostly UFA years and he's got much more leverage. A full 8 year deal is probably in the mid 8s, possibly lower for less term if he'll be young enough to cash in after the contract.

Caufield is coming off an elc with 4 RFA years remaining.

Debrincat has a high QO which he can take and walk to UFA. He also has 2 40 goal seasons

DeBrincat situation is different, he has a lot more leverage so i think if you can sign him for an 8 yr deal under 8.35 it's a good deal

DeBrincat is more likely to accept his QO and walk to UFA if he doesn't see an AAV of 8.5-9mil.

Caufield has barely played 100games and has less then 100pts, he's just not an equal comparison for DeBrincat.

Like everyone else said, they are not comparable players. Debrincat is what you hope Caufield will become, not what he is currently. Debrincat will get at least a mil more. Also, calling Suzuki ‘elite’ and putting him in the same sentence as a living legend like Kane is faux pas.

finally!!! somebody said it hahaha Suzuki is a Mid 6 player. far from "elite", the Habs potential is high though.

I agree that on a bonafide contender Nick Suzuki would currently be a mid 6 player.

DeBrincat is bigger than Caufield and plays a much more physical game. DeBrincat will probably get 8x8. Could have gotten more but didn’t have the best season last year.
