The Hellebuyck cost and ensuring bidding war

Created by: Howie
Team: 2023-24 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 5, 2023
Published: Jun. 5, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
As many people know Hellebuyck is a major asset that is available on the market (#2 on dailyfaceoff Trade board). The jets have a massive opportunity to get a massive return and change up the team. There are many teams that could have interest in Hellebuyck so I'm going to make some mock trades and see what the best deal they can do while not going full rebuild.

Not saying all the deals are perfect for both teams. Heck, I'd be surprised if there is a cohesive conversation about it as the rental vs signing conversation would come up. Not all teams are going to have to pay the same price in regards to a deal. Base of a trade is basically just a suggestion on what a deal could look like maybe add or subtract an item to make it work but all form a basis of something to talk about and see what other options present themselves. If a team isn't mentioned don't be afraid to jump in (I see Edmonton as a team that could do something as well).

Please don't personally bash people as it's not actual trades but more of a way to compare and contrast different deals from the same team and how it stacks up to the other teams to basically find where some teams limits lie and where some assets are better than others.

Basically what is Hellebuyck worth to your team and if that deal is a realistic deal that would he accepted based on what other deals could be present. Excited to see everyone's view and ideas.

It doesn't make sense for Carolina/ Freddie is cheaper, only 3 years older, and won't cost the assets. When they're healthy, there isn't a lot between them. Helle is better, but it doesn't justify this

Don't think any team that definitively will not contend next year will be in the Hellebuyck hunt.

As a Flyers fan, please tell the WPG GM to drive up the price on Helle. Creating a huge bidding war for him will only help the Flyers with Hart for the teams that lose our in Helle and will be desperate for the next best available!

Fair just trying to see the differences in what some teams would and wouldn't do. Carolina may be the team that could benefit from him especially in playoffs

Yeah just a guess on what the Jets may want and that might not entirely match with who is untouchable. What would the sens do?

And it may be similar as hart could be a goalie for a team for 10+ years

Someone is going to offer an over pay for one year, another team will offer to over pay for a year + extension. Neither of those teams will be the Canes.

They wouldn’t offer a top prospect and 1st for a Goalie - and I know he’s a really good one.

So Helle would have been a .950+ in the playoffs and gotten us over the hump this year?

Okay so carolina probably would be out of the hunt that way. They definitely need to figure out what they want to do goalie wise. Koch and whoever need to really bring it

The best deals out of all of those for WPG are the 2 least likely to happen... the WPG / DET trade. A goalie to take over for Helly and the 9th overall pick. and the WPG / NJD trade. A goalie to take over for Helly, a very good young player and a pick.

The WPG / BUF trade is close. It's not enough from BUF. They need to throw in another prospect / young player to make that happen. Krebs or R. Johnson.

Freddie + Koch would be an acceptable tandem next year, + vet depth. Just don’t see a future assets + new contract hurdles being jumped over for the Canes for a Goalie.

If they break their model it would be for a dynamic point accumulator

Unless Helle starts sniping shots from his own crease he isn't the help they need. While I agree he would be an upgrade, Freddie posted a 1.83 and .927 these playoffs; goaltending was not the issue.

Obviously, NJD would not include Holtz (or Hughes or Nemec). Try some kids like Clarke, Thompson, Filmon.

Winnipeg wouldn’t accept SY’s offer as it would be outbid by other teams. There is no need and it is not in sync with the timeline.

Husso + 2023 Detroit 2nd is all I would offer which is not in the realm of possibility. I’m sure other Wings fans would offer more, some would say less, others even say not at all.

My pitch would be that bringing him in adds extra work in other positional areas of need. Cossa is the end goal in net, and most likely Detroit doesn’t compete until he is with team in some capacity. Can’t lose a potential Leonard/Wood/Moore/ASP/etc. which addresses a bigger organizational need for a goalie who alters the current course.

The next best available? Hart is like 4th or 5th.
1.) Saros
2.) Hellebuyck
3.) Demko
4.) Anderson / Jarry (UFAs that require no value beyond money)
5.) Ullmark / Hart

Hellebuyck will get something slightly better than Bishop or Kuemper got.
Bishop + 5th for A prospect + backup goalie + 7th
Kuemper for B prospect + low 1st + low 3rd

Rental goalies on bad teams don't get much of a return, even with a mini bidding war.

Example: A Pittsburgh trade would be something like:
Poulin + Vegas 3rd + 2024 1st

Stop it lol. Anderson and Jarry are not better, Jarry has been Hart’s apprentice his entire life he’s just lucky he got put into a better team. Nothing has been said that Saros and Demko are available and if they are Demko and Helle are the only better options. Hart would outplay Saros if he was on Nashville and Hart is younger and on a better deal.

Yikes after Otters playoffs? This list isn’t bad but all of those goalies are also on very good teams. Put any of them on the Flyers for the last 3 years and their numbers wouldn’t be better than Harts
