Interesting trade for lafreniere sj not trading 4 for him and Arizona not trading 6, but Montreal possibly a different opinion at 5 and French player

Los Angeles would KILL for Miller, but you shouldn't be selling him.

I like Miller, but NSH doesn't have room for him, without shipping another defenceman back. Ultimately, Tomasino and player they can get at 15OA do more for them than Miller would.

I am a big believer in trading Miller for someone more competent at the defensive side of the game. The offense is nice but he isn’t good defensively at all.

Okay let's play this game of yours. Why do you trade for Toffoli? I just sign Fast. Panarin doesn't do defence and can't play with offensive minded players.

Personally I think his problems stemmed more from Gallant's coaching system than his line. Either way Toffoli and Trocheck are both good in their own end and can handle defense for the Breadman.

do you really think Laf is worth the 5th ovr? Like do you seriously think it's a fair, realistic trade? I would like to know the reasoning

Yeah I'll admit I don't know much about Nashville's needs, I just think Tomasino is a lowkey really good player and wanted him to be in the return for Miller.

Yeah but that is a bet. A bet that needs to work first year. You are in my mind adding to the problem not removing the issues. Those picks are years away from making this team better. And Shesterkin isn't signing extension.

Considering he's a former 1OA pick then yes. If Dach was traded for the 13th OA and 66th OA picks, I don't see how a former first overall in a similar situation isn't worth the 5th OA.
Sure he's been disappointing but he's still got a very high ceiling, just hasn't had the opportunity to thrive in the Rangers system.

Plus this assuming Montreal wants him, which I'm sure they do.

I mean Im not being serious abt trading both Laf and Miller, I said above in my description it's not gonna happen. Was just running through in my imagination how it would look if the Rangers did.

I'm sure they'd rather offersheet him. There's definitely a connection with Gorton Brin the guy who drafted him, and I wouldn't mind him in red, but not at that price. I don't they're 1.that desperate and 2.rumors are that they want to make a splash with a defenseman, move down, move up, and this isn't that. Who knows

So Dach who was underwhelming gets 13th overall in a known down draft year but Laf who has also been underwhelming gets 5th in a draft that's supposed to be the best of the last 20 years...... Doesn't add up

Then it'll end up being Montreal's 1st and 3rd next year, not that far off from the current value of the 5th OA. Montreal's pick next year is still gonna be a high one.

Rangers won't let Laf go for a 2nd, if they get Montreal's next 1st rounder out of it then they probably will.

Yes because Laf has a much higher ceiling and has done better than Dach before he got traded, with less opportunity, not to mention he's a former 1st overall.

I also strongly believe that Montreal will overpay for him, Rangers have no reason to trade him (I know Im trading him here as a Rangers fan but this is a theoretical that isn't happening), so if Montreal really does want him then the Rangers will make them pay.

He had a down year. Did you not watch him previously? He's 2nd on our future depth chart and is not going anywhere

Except Laf doesn't have the higher ceiling and he plays a less valuable position.

Also, MTL aren't in a position to overpay for him, they have tons of young prospects to give ice time to. The Rangers are the ones looking at a cap crunch

Everyone is enamored with his size that he does not use. We’d be better off using him as a winger since he cannot play defense.

Big softie unfortunately, meaner teammates would work magic. His stick work, previous to this year, was magic. You should have seen it... lol

I don’t miss games, but still have not been as impressed as you have. Hopefully he takes the next step and I can see what you can see.

Dach's underwhelming production: 1.08 points per 60 minutes 5v5 the year before be traded, playing VERY often with some of Kane, Debrincat, Hagel
Laffs underwhelming production: 1.59 points per 60 minutes 5v5
