I get that Karlsson just had an unbelievable career season, but hardest of passes from me. He's an elite Tony D'Angelo (amazing offensively, terrible defensively). The season he just had was an outlier, so I wouldn't expect him to repeat last year's production. Even with the retention, that's a bad contract for a 33 yr old with so much term left.

Hurricanes aren't going to deal a top-six piece for Forsberg

I feel like last years 40 goal/ppg season is an outlier for Forsberg, and that cap hit will start to look rough for the last couple years of his contract, especially for a guy who hasn't played a full season's worth of games for 7 years. Nashville definitely has to add to this trade, and probably a good bit too.

Also, I love Necas but if he is your 1C then you are in trouble.

I like the idea of bringing in Debrincat and the trade seems reasonable to me. Don't think he signs for under $8.5mil though.

I'd rather keep Forsburg over Necas personally, and get someone more suited for Top C.

I also wouldn't get Bunting, especially not for that dollar amount. Would rather get Domi for that value. Bunting isn't going to amount for squat when he isn't on a line with Matthews and Marner.

I love Karlsson the player, but he is at an extreme Sell High moment right now, and just don't think it works.

seems about right for Karlsson. Not thrilled so that means it's probably more realistic of a return

Interesting that preds fans think the value is off on EK65. I get if you think it doesn't make sense for the team, but the Value is objectively skewed massively in the preds favor here.

A late first, a bad depth player who's an RFA, an underperforming cap dump center, a c+ prospect, and a future second? Thats god awful value for EK on a 9.5 mil contract.

Also the Tony D comparison that someone made is just laughable. The only thing they have in common is that they are offense focused. Anyone who actually watches EK knows whos great at defending off the rush, intercepting passes, and blocking shots. His weakness is when he gets stuck defending the cycle and board battles as well as getting out of position. In a more structured system he's very good defensively.

Is Carrier a "bad depth player"? It seems like he's regressed stat wise this year, but kind of seems like he's on about the same level as Ferraro, and better offensively.

*to be clear I'm genuinely asking, I don't know much about him.

Maybe a bit of an exaggeration to say a "bad" depth player but he's already 26. had a solid season last year but had very bad numbers this past season and hasn't been a consistent NHLer in years prior to last.

Ferraro had a brutal year but on a horrid team. He was very solid the past three years and is only 24. Mario has a skillset that would make him an effective offensive player but he's played three years as a defensive anchor to Burns run-and -gun style, so I think he'll need to re-set his mindset of when he should and shouldn't take offensive risks. I'd definitely feel more comfortable with Ferraro than Carrier to bounce back as well as in the long term

No, he’s not bad. He finished top 10 in Calder voting just a year ago (yes, as a 25 year old). He had a rough start this year but started looking better before getting hurt. It’s an exaggeration, but so is saying L'Heureux is a C+ prospect.
