Description
"Fair" is meant to be in quotes in the title, I do not think any of these trades are fair, just wanted to point something out that most star players do not get traded for fair value at the time. Of the most recent star players to get traded, Eichel, ROR (out of Buffalo), and EK were the only 3 that one could argue the selling team won the deal. The only reason those 3 would be considered Ws for the selling team is bc SJ was significantly worse than expected, giving up a top pick, Thompson vastly exceeded expectations, and Tuch did get a good bit better after the trade. None of those, and other big deals where a team was selling (not trading a star for a star like the Huberdeau/Tkachuk trade) haven't gone well for the selling team and even those didn't look good at the time.

Meier def looks like a W for NJ, Lindholm isn't as good as others but looks like a W for BOS, McDonaugh+Miller again aren't that good, but def a W for TBL, Kessel to PIT was def a W for PIT, though Duchene to OTT was def an L at the time and looking back for OTT, but that is an outlier in these big trades

Ottawa would accept, depending on what those others assets are.

But Ottawa can't afford to trade DeBrincat for "futures" unless they go out and use some futures to fill the 2 holes at forward

I just want any return that allows Ottawa to "save face" from the DeBrincat trade with Chicago.

If the best return involves futures, so be it.

We could then trade some of the futures to upgrade the roster.

lol Melnyk was our owner and Dorion has been our GM for 7 years. It's way too late to "save face"

A new chapter will start with new ownership
