I'm pretty sure Detroit isn't doing that

probably don't need to include the 6th rounder. CHI probably accepts a Granlund dump for the jump to 14th, clean and easy.

Ottawa accepts.

DeBrincat does not.

Give an inch and take a mile. My guess is this is some kind of tweak from the Petry + 14 for Veleno + 41/42/43 which made people think.

This does not.

Just the 5 slots? Idk, I'm open to one of the 2nds, but 5 slots isn't that much value.

On average, a jump from 19th to 14th is around the same value as a mid 2nd round pick. Which is around what Granlund should cost to dump. But, I get what you're saying. Either way, a 6th round pick isn't worth much.

I guess I could be wrong, though. What the heck do I know?

Wait... Nevermind. I must have been thinking of another contract that was owed less actual salary. A mid 2nd for an $11M dump probably doesn't cut it.

That's not a very good return... unless we bank on that 2024 first?

I'm open! Even if it's multiple 2nds. #35 - #14 is ALOT and I get that. ~180 points Maybe it's #35 & #55 & Granlund? That would make the Granlund dump equal to ~130 points...1st pick in the 2nd. Dubas has done a good job of finding picks in the 2nd rounds. I think he can justify that to PIT's board and players. That he's getting extra cap space and (2) picks in a deep draft. It's not like the #14 pick will likely even be available for the Crosby era push.

Ottawa has a boatload of left shot D men. They have stated that they are looking for a right shot D man. They would most likely be looking for a scoring LW to replace the cat right away. I can't see them accepting that. I wouldn't take that either but i'm not a GM.

For sure. On paper it definitely makes sense. Not sure Dubas would see it that way, though. And, yeah, i've been using that same link a lot lately. It's pretty great. It validated some of my understanding about trade value, some better, and some worse. But at least it is a base line to build arguments around.
