CAR would get that goal scorer with their futures over Pesce, who is one of the most important D-men for them.

If anyone knows how hard it is to replace a quality D-man, it is Ottawa, considering how long they've been lacking a proper defensive RHD. CAR doesn't have anyone to replace him in terms of playstyle.

Probably. They are very happy being a team that consistently makes playoffs and wins a round or two. It's good revenue rather than mortgaging a bit of the future for a goal scorer.
