With that TOR deal, you could probably make it FC and not have to give up anything with how desperate they'll be for cap space to sign Matthews and Samsonov.

I respect ur opinion but the only way to not have the offer sheet matched is to hike up the pay

Oh definitely but just in general saying. Saw a lot of discourse about it today on Twitter since Caufield signed and people asking what it meant for Zegras.

Murray has zero impact on the Matthews extension, and Leafs have more than enough cap to sign Samsonov. They would want to move Murray because the extra cap is nice and they will not run 3 goalies, but they don't need to attach a 1st with zero return coming back because they are desperate.

Everyone entitled to an opinion, even Canuckle fans, but least you could do is a bit of research before spouting off. Leafs aren’t desperate but would prob like to move out Murray, just like canuckles would like to move out myers - you willing to send him + a late 1st (or early 2nd) for FC

lol, Myers + 3rd for FC would be a bad deal for us. We're gonna be mediocre again, why not keep him and the pick IMO. Myers after his 5 mil bonus is paid can be traded for like a 6th or a 7th and this is the route I'd say to go.

'24 1st the Avs should probably take a chance. Don't see them giving up the '23 1st for Hayes even with that retention but who knows.

I am begging everyone to stop with the Hayes (and for that matter, Hall) to Col AGM's. Begging. I've seen a ton of Hayes to Colorado AGM's from the Philly side. None of them make sense.

Look at it like this. Hayes is probably best suited for a 3rd line role on a cup contending team, but gets paid for as a 2nd line center. Even at $4.2M, that is too much for a 3C. Hayes stats show he is a higher paid JT Compher (3 more points that JT last year), who played a ton of 2C last year and got wrecked in the playoffs. He is not the 2C solution for the Avalanche.

The Avalanche do not have a single bad contract on the team and are not going to start now by taking on Hayes and his contract, much less for a real asset. This is Philly fans dreaming of dumping that contract and hoping for something good in return.

That’s weird I didn’t realize $7.2-3.5=4.2. Last time I checked retaining $3.5M on Hayes makes him around $3.7M player which is absolutely around the price of a 3C lol. Hayes was almost a PPG last year at the All-Star break and was an All-Star until his game fell off when he had a falling out with Torts just after the All-Star break. He would be a great 3C on a contending team and with good line mates can definitely be a low end 2C. Also not sure how you get a better player for the cost and cap hit with $3.5M retained. Also ur fans propose this just as much as Flyers fans do so you thinking it’s only Flyers fans is ridiculous

Well because Vancouver doesn't want to be mediocre, they want to compete. But that's besides the point. The point is the Leafs have enough cap space. And no team is moving a 1st with no return just to get rid of cap.

Yep missed the math, by $500K...so even with that argument...$3.5 for an aging 3C with 3 more years of term AND giving up assets vs signing a FA seems like good cap management? Hayes is a sub 50% F/O guy, seemingly lost a bit of his scoring touch (sub 10 shooting% last 2 years after being at 12% shooter), terrible +/- (ok that was trolling), sub 100 PDO last 5 years despite primarily O-zone starts (64% last year alone) which isn't going to happen as a 3C.

The Avs already had a low end 2C in Compher and he is not coming back because he didn't drive the line. They would be better served paying O'Reilly $5.5-$6M for the next 3 years and give up no assets to play 2C than trading for Hayes. Or Give up assets for a real 2C like Scheifele. The Avs need someone to move the needle at 2C, not another tweener.

So here’s where I’m at with this, this trade is pretty much assuming Avs miss out on everything else. NOBODY should want Hayes as their first option lol. But ROR can go anywhere in FA and I don’t believe the Avs have enough assets that WPG would want for Scheifele because it looks like they might want to rebuild and Colorado doesn’t exactly have a lot of futures to give up. If Scheifele is available that also means other teams would want him too so no guarantee he ends up on the Avs. I think when it comes to the smoke around Hayes for Colorado, Carolina, and CBJ, it is assuming 1 team will miss out on all of their targets and will then look to Hayes as the 3rd 4th or 5th option lol. Then at that point you will have to pay what you have to pay to get him. The only thing I’ll point out in relation to Hayes’ stats is that the flyers have been a dumpster fire for 3 years and is stats would look better with better players around him, not crazy boosts but certainly a boost.

All fair. Ill take him as a 5th option smile (ahead of JT Compher)
