That's a relevant argument if MTL needed to dump cap. He may not hold much value but the only way he is considered a cap dump is if MTL absolutely needs that cap space. Seeing as they don't need the space, he is not a dump.

The Caps would value him as a cap dump though, so you're not gonna get picks from them for Hoffman. They've got plenty of 3rd line wingers already.

Cool. Then it sounds like Montreal can keep him and spare every other teams' fans the misery of all these proposals where they actually pay draft capital for an overpaid aging soft winger that none of them need or want.

A Hoffman trade won't be a worldbeater, so the point of it is that it could theoretically be any teams who scoop up Hoffman for cheap.

If Montreal (who has plenty of cap space) is not interested, how many other teams do you think will be interested enough to take the cap and pay you for the pleasure?

That's fine as an assessment but to say he's a blanket cap dump is simply trolling.
