Devils Add Konecny and Hall

Created by: srof12
Team: 2023-24 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 6, 2023
Published: Jun. 6, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm not sure this team even works long term, Mercer needs a new deal next year but this forward core would be insane

For the Konecny deal, a 1st, a solid forward prospect and a 3rd seems reasonable. Fwiw I doubt the Flyers would move him to NJ but still.

McLeod not signed for cap reasons (and potential off ice reasons).

Get the **** outta here with that TK trade, that's legit horrible.

That hall trade is a laugher too, why are these so one-sided to the Devils?

Even if Taylor said he would only play for the devils they would still get more than a 5th...that is laughable at least try to make an actual trade.

Bruins need cap space. They have like 15 contracts and like $5M to work with.

Fair enough. I don't think it's too far off when compared to recent top line wingers being traded. Especially when he's a UFA at the end of two seasons. Personally I wouldn't have a problem adding more but the history is what it is.

I mean maybe. B's need the cap space more than anything.

Taylor was like the only productive forward they had at 5v5 during the playoffs doubt they drop him for a 5th.....They would flip their own picks to move other contracts first. Grzelcyk, Forbort, and Rielly all make between 3-4 mil for one more year and would be cheap dumps and buy outs.

I use to say Flyers wouldn't trade TK to a divisional rival, but with Provy to CBJ who knows anymore. TK is gonna need a lot more to land him.

Also, I don't think Hall is untouchable by any means but you gotta give at least some value to get him. Probably at least what Boston paid Buffalo for him (2nd and a roster player).

TK trade would probably be closer to something like Holtz and the '24 1st. Not sure how high the Devils are on him still tho

You aren't getting your return back after keeping hall for 3 years. He's the easiest way to clear large cap and he's a middle 6er at this point making 6 mill

Holtz value to the devils is probably around a mid 1st. he's pretty widely regarded as a top 20 or so prospect in hockey

It's not that he doesn't have value it's the the Bruins literally need as much cap space as possible. They have sub $5M and 15 players right now. Hall's $6M is a lot for most teams to take o, so the market probably won't be massive, and it's probably the best way for them to free up space.

Mid 1st value + (probably) late 1st in 2024 seems about fair to me. I think the Flyers could probably find another team that would offer more though

I mean maybe? A lot of high end wingers have moved for much less recently, and most of them still had RFA status.

I'm not totally sure how high the team is on Holtz either, personally I still think he has a lot of value and is still one of the better goalscoring prospects in the world. Personally I think him and 1st is fair value for a player like Konecny but top line wingers seem to never move for fair value. The Devils particularly might have to overpay relative to other teams though given the rivalry.

BOS blocks your number. NJ isn’t the only place they can trade to. Other teams will be calling about Hall if BOS is actually shopping him.

The bidding price should go as high as two 2nd rnd picks.

If you retain 50% maybe you get that.

Hall can most definitely fetch more than a 5th, Devils fans know this.

Yea there’s no way 31 teams let Boston recoup what they gave up for Hall, given the cap situation they’ve found themselves in for 23-24
