I just have to stop answering these offers for Hayes to COL. He's not worth a 1st rounder let alone that plus a strong Dman that we don't need to move.

Do you mean Kuzy or Hayes?

Well, both. My bad. This board should have been Kuzy, but it seems like today ACGM is nothing but overpays for Kuzy and Hayes.

Yeah, for sure. I think people sense we’re kinda desperate for some Top 6 help after the absolutely atrocious display of depth the Avs had this postseason. Hopefully Sakic and GMCM poison the water in D.C. with stupid juice.

COL would do their 1st but not Girard too, which is fine, Caps don't need him. And that PHI is way too much for PHI players.

Are you trying to dump Kuzy or get Girard because they are two very different things...

I don't know as they'd even do that unless it was with serious retention.

I think COL would pay a 1st. They desperately need another top 6 center and there aren't many if any out there at all. Plus they have the space if Landy out all season. Plus, he'd freakn shred it there. Easily see 70+ maybe even 80+ seasons in COL. Nich would be the perfect wing man for him. Maybe they settle on a 2024 1st.

Retention would still be required because of Colorado's cap situation regardless of Landy. People are missing the fact that that money can only be planned for being there for 1 season. It's short sighted to not plan for the extra season which is what soooo many people are doing on here, although I do also appreciate it's always fluid and other moves can (and will have to at least in the future) be made. I'd go back to some previous threads around the TDL and onwards and the thinking (accepted by a lot of WAS fans) was '24 1st and the '25 3rd for retention. That's as far as I'd be willing to go for Kuzy. I do agree we could possibly see a startling reversion to previous form though.

I think Caps could eat some but don't know how much. Maybe $1.8M to make it $6M?

Doubtful that would be enough for the Avs at the present time. $2.8m might be, perhaps has to involve another team. I'd say 5 mil is probably about all the Avs have to play with for a 2C unless they have other moves lined up and all the pieces fall into place neatly.
