3.5 million on the bench and 6.6 in the bank doesnt do much good for us.

If this happened Carolina would be banking on a huge raise in the salary cap to resign everyone next year

I mean Martin is there more for the playoffs for that grit and physicality that we've really lacked in these last two seasons
Jesse is the extra forward
Bear is the extra defenseman
We're going to need that cap space next offseason when we have to resign Tuevo, Sebastian, Seth.

Bettman says that the cap for 24-25 is going to be about a $6m increase and that would just give enough for us to resign everybody

we can get depth defensemen and forwards in UFA for free and near league minimum. none of those three are necessary.

I mean Jesse is going to be a long-term project and it seems like they've committed to with by trading for him... So swap Bear and Martin for another defenseman and forward

chances carolina wont spend up to the cap anyway with all the signing they havw to do next summer. dont think it matters much if there is an extra million on the bench anyway.

maybe. but im sure there will be some guys who dont get the deals they wont this year. Also, one year cap dumps in the draft will be in the Canes wheel house. i doubt we carry more than 2 million in unused space.

I think there is a couple re-signings for 24-25 that get done this offseason

I mean it's probably going to have to be one-year deals because I'm guessing Jarvis, Aho, Necas are going to get pretty significant raises

Canucks easily decline. We just gave up a 5th for Bear. Management loves him, he’s fit well, and he plays a position we need. No chance we’re giving him back for a 5th that’s worse than the one we gave up for him. That’s terrible asset management.

Fair enough... I mean the Hurricanes have a couple of guys from the minors they can pull up for that 7D position so Vancouver declining isn't the end of the world

An NCAA prospect who projects to be a top pairing defenseman
Gunler and Suzuki can probably make the roster of the Coyotes next year

Suzuki and Gunler are both good defensive players... those PPG numbers don't tell you the whole story

I'm not saying it does... I'm saying the top 50 prospect (Morrow) does
