Bemstrom does nothing for the Caps. A protected 2024 1st makes sense.

He's a 70 point center that could hit 80 on the right team. Plus, and this is the main point, how many top 6 centers are out there? There's none in UFA and outside Dubois (who obviously isn't going back to CBJ) none are on the trade block. Kuz is the only answer really so that will drive up his price. BOS, COL, and maybe SEA could be bidding on him, which will drive up the price.

He looks like a good middle 6 player, which is fine, it's just not something the Caps need.

70 point center. He's averaged 71 points per 82 games the last 8 seasons. Just hit 78 points 2 seasons ago. He played on the most injured team last season and with a coach that was wearing on them.
