You couldn't pay me to take Pierre Luc, yes he gets his points but he's the exact opposite of a guy i want around pinto brady and tim for the next 5 years. His attitude and entitlement since his rookie contract not taking any leadership on his teams nope no chance.

Alex also 99 times out of 100 won't sign in Winnipeg

With all the talk of PLD bolting to Montreal at the end of the season I don't see why Ottawa do this.

Who wants Dubois? Not me

And he plays Center, that would create another problem even if there was not the gigantic problem as to why this can't work

I recognize I'm lower on Fabbri than others, but why would we pass on this? Moving Fabbri gives us more roster certainty (due to his constant injuries) and cap space for DeBrincat.

Also, this isn't more than what OTT paid because they gave up 7oa, 39oa, and a 3rd. We're giving up 17oa, 42oa, and Fabbri. This is certainly less than OTT paid.

Wait, you think that

17th OA + 2nd + Fabbri

is more than

7th OA + 2nd + 3rd

17 this year is equal to 7 last year with this deep draft. Fabbri is worth a low 2nd to mid 3rd. I’d say it’s pretty even to what Ottawa paid. For this particular trade, I’d counter with Fabbri, 17OA, and a 4th(maybe you could talk me into a 3rd).

Well considering the depth of this draft class and the lack of depth is last years, 17 this year is pretty close to 7 last year. 2nds are equal and I’d say Fabbri is worth more than a 3rd(for me, low 2nd to early 3rd). I think this is pretty equal to what Ottawa paid but due to Cat’s down year and lack of cost controlled contract then yes, I think they get less than what they paid.

You're not wrong on this but "pretty close" might be a bit too much. Usually, the difference in value between 7th and 17th is gigantic... We could find some trades where a team moved up like this in the past but it usually costs a lot more than a Fabbri.

They might get less than what they paid but the problem is you said that this was MORE than what they got... It's not factually correct

The top 5 this year is better than all of last year's draft. After that it's all even.

It’s pretty even to what they paid, depending on how you value Fabbri.

7th OA in 2022 >> 17th OA in 2023
2nd = 2nd
3rd < Fabbri

It's slightly less than what they paid so it can't be more

Kevin Korchinski is comparable to Reinbacher, ASP, Yager, Sale, Barlow, Richie, Cristall, etc(all projected in the teens) IMO

Korchinski has nothing to do with this, it's not about the prospect that was chosen. It's about the value of the pick itself, the draft position

It's like saying "the 10th OA pick in 2021 had really really low value compared to usual because Tyler Boucher"

I’m just pointing out the difference in depth of the draft classes. This is a deeper draft so mid 1st picks have similar value to earlier picks from last year.
