If I had a choice, id fire Hughes and force Molson to sell the team if you do not get one of Fanitlli or Michkov in this draft. Trade up to #3 and grab whoever Anaheim doesnt pick between them 2.

  2. 2023 1st round pick (FLA)
  3. 2024 3rd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
That should be more than enough to move up from #5 to #3

And Columbus would do this because either way they get Carlsson or Smith at center

Columbus also wants a top 6 winger, so maybe instead of the 32nd pick you put Anderson. I bet Babcock would love a big Canadian boy

WSH
  1. Harris, Jordan
  2. Ylönen, Jesse [RFA Rights]
  3. 2025 1st round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
This trade probably doesnt happen as WSH want a pick this draft but I think the value is fine

Im using the vlaue from the Romanov trade as comparission. Harris is better than Romanov now than when Romanov was traded but the pick is way more valuable so I added a 2025 1st which would have the 'the lowest of 1st rounders' condition added to it

Id also only do this trade if Benson is available at #8, if not then you can try this trade but instead of the 1st you add the COL 2024 2nd for the 14th pick from Pittsburgh

That's not enough to get 3 and where do you get the idea that the Jackets want a top 6 winger?

Its being reported everywhere after the Provorov trade and how is that not enough to move up 2 spots and still get the player they ultimately want in Smith or Carlsson

Top 20 pick, very good LHD whos only 23 and signed for 2 seasons cheap (can also play the RHD) and a bottom 6 winger whos gonna be very cheap and responsible defensively, booming shot and can play on either wing. Its everything WSH needs

Habs are not picking Mitchkov. Even if they acquire the third overall.

1. It's being reported that Jarmo wants to make more moves. It's largely expected that those moves are for a top 6 *center* and/or another veteran defenseman

2. It's not enough to move up 2 spots because at 3 the Jackets have their choice of who they want, but at 5 they have to wait and see what Montreal and San Jose do. 3 OA is available for a u25 1C that can be signed long term.

No, it absolutely isn't. I don't know how you can even look at this and think it's even close to fine. That 2025 pick won't make an NHL impact until 2027 at earliest. By the time they're making that pick, the 2023 pick will be an NHL regular. If Harris and Ylonen are that good in your eyes, keep them. Caps don't want or need them. The trade is horrid for Washington.

So for this post I say the Habs take Michkov at 3, that means San Jose has an option at Carlsson or Smith. Using common sense, the jackets at 5 (because 4 is before 5) get the other one. And guess that, its a Center either way and they are both same level of player. So the jackets gets a free 1st rounder and 3rd and still get what they want.

If only you could do something with said pick, idk like a trade to get that center yall need. And right now, WSH needs a good LHD since they only have Sandin. Harris is better two way than Sandin, younger and clear of anyone else in your system. Caps need quantity, not quality if they want to be in any way competitive in Ovi's last years

Not good enough to pass on having a choice between the two. Frankly, Carlsson is a far superior prospect too and I don't think it's a guarantee that Anaheim takes Fantilli. So they're trading down from a guarantee of either Fantilli or Carlsson to almost assuredly getting Will Smith, if they even have him in the top 5 on their board. Also, if you're so certain the Jackets and Sharks are going with centers, why do you even bother trading up?

The Caps needs are top 6 wingers (and possibly a top 6 center if Kuzy is moved) to help them compete while Ovie is still here. They have 3 young LD in Sandin, Fehervary, and Alexeyev, and more 3rd line wingers than they have spots to put them. A distant 1st, a young LD, and a 3rd line winger are all things the Caps *don't* need.

Let's skip over arguing about whatever perceived value Anderson may or may not have...The quickest way to look at this is to recall the fact that he requested a trade out of Columbus while he was there, and the GM at the time is the same one who is there now.

Really no reason for the Jackets not to take whichever of Fantilli (Ducks better take him!!!) or Carlsson at 3OA. Fills a big long-term need for them. Michkov *should* be there at 5OA, which will be absolute theft, since San Jose *likely* takes Smith.

Dude, you clearly do not know anything about the caps roster or their situation right now. This is a garbage trade and it isn't happening.

For an 8oa pick. What we need is a high end young talent that we can pick in the top 10. We don’t need lds,

Marty Fer Sandin Alexyev, and we don’t need any young bottom six guys. We have enough of those

hahahah you have no idea what you are talking about. I second everything Caps fans said above.

This trade is absolutely horrible and not close on value.
