Additional Details:
***Second part of the three team deal.

-DeMelo agrees to an extension
WPG
  1. Hart, Carter
  2. Jokiharju, Henri
Additional Details:
Winnipeg clears a ton of cap space over 14 m to Buffalo and 6.5 coming back over the next couple years, acquires a goalie with an additional year, shakes up their roster, and slightly frees up their defensive log jam by moving two out, picking up one. Being from Alberta, Hart may be open to signing long term in a couple years.

Buffalo takes on Nate Schmidt’s deal, and acquires DeMelo.
3.
BUF
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (CHI)
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
The idea here is that Chicago is interested in the contract for cap floor reasons, and uses him as a skilled winger for their top six next year and the power play. They need some skill in the lineup for Bedard.

The value here for moving up 4 spots in round 2 is a 4th rounder+ plus pick 93. This pick positions Buffalo to move back into the first round if they need to.
CHI
  1. Olofsson, Victor
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (PHI)

What do you guys think of Schmidt by the way? Is he like the kind of guy where you’d like him if he was making less?

And DeMelo getting an extension would need to be a big part of this deal for Buffalo. I think he would be perfect for Owen Power for the next few years and significantly improves the D

We love him. Yes, would like him a LOT more if he was making half.

100% Smoke is a VERY responsible D. He makes everyone that he plays with better. He would be great with Power.

Your premise regarding Olafsson is flawed. Hawks aren't going to spend assets or trade back to get to the cap floor. The Hawks will use #35 for the same purpose as Buffalo - to grab another 1st round pick. Or they'll pick a player who is a much longer term piece than Olafsson. Buffalo needs to send Olafsson half retained to a playoff contender if they want to get decent value for him.

Any deal that gives the Flyers a top 15 pick for Hart must be seriously considered let alone everything else in the deal.

There's nothing in it for Winnipeg. The Jets would want good, young players with lots of team control left. Not a couple project players.

The 2023 picks are too enticing. I think Philly accepts. Having UPL as a serviceable stopgap helps as well
