Big no from the Avs. They’re not trading away Newhook under any circumstances.

If you want Hart and TK the deal starts with either the 18OA or Lambert and then you add from there. TK is reportedly getting a gigantic package if he is moved and flyers want at least 1 premium asset for Hart. The trade isn’t bad but the Flyers would want better giving both up in the same deal

Not inclined to trade Portillo since we just got him, but could work something around Durzi+ for Hellebuyck 50% retained.

I think teams would offer more for PLD than what MTL would be willing to do. With the report coming out saying that PLD would sign for more with a rebuilding team MTL would need to move a bigger salary to make the money work. the only bigger salary pplayers they would be interested in would be Suzuki, Caulfield, Dach. Unless MTL would be willing to trade for example Anderson along with #5 overall.

Yeah, either a 4th or a 5th for Wheeler half retained, but a 2nd, you can keep him.

No thanks from LA. They can't afford Helle this season or beyond. Portillo is only one of two goalies under contract for next season and they can't move him for a 30 year old goalie with one year left at $6m and looking for a big raise. Not giving out a major contract for a goalie to end up like they just were with Quick and Petersen.

I know. I feel like MTL is going to be out on PLD. Which is smart on their end.

I read a projection of what a PLD resigning would cost and it was 9m aav. Thats all Montreal fans need to know. His best season was last in which he scored 63 pts. Thats not a 9 million dollar player, maybe unless 50 of those points are goals. And your right other teams will offer more and I don't believe in this draft Montreal will trade 5 overall

I wish they let another team offer him 8 x $9m. PLD will whine within 2 years and we'll get him for the remaining 6 years of his contract at 50% retained.

I'm not a fan of overpaying for him. I feel sorry for you guys in Winnipeg. I wish you get what you want for him and that it doesn't come from Montreal. Anything beyond Anderson, CAL 2025 1st and Kidney qualifies as an overpay for me.

According to the report from the Athletic because MTL isn't a contender the price for PLD would be closer to $9M. But he said for a contending team he would take less.

If im a team like BOS, NYR, COL (contending teams) I would slightly over pay for him. The reason being these are teams that have strong leadership and have stars that can out shine PLD. But PLD is a player that has all the tools to be a 1C. We have seen glimpses of it. But because both markets he has played in he has been "The Guy". Whether that meant being a top 3 draft pick in Columbus and pretty much the only skilled played back when he was there. Or in WPG he was always labelled the guy who we got for Laine (who was loved by the fanbase) So he was always focused on. Which it seems he doesnt like.
I'm actually happy with that report that came out from the Athletic because it gives Chevy more leverage against other teams to actually get a decent return for him. kind of like the Tkachuk situation last year.

What would your thoughts be if the package from MTL be Justin Barron, Anderson, and FLA 2023 1st?

We're thin on RHD and Mailloux is a very decent prospect. As for FLA 1st (31/32OA) I wish they package it with 37OA (and more, including prospects) to get a higher 1st round pick -- I'm looking at PIT 14OA.

We are in the same boat with being really thin on RHD. Yeah I can see MTL packaging FLA 1st round pick to move up. Or bring in a younger player to keep help building your team. MTL is close once those aging contracts are off the books.

you won't get either those players or 5th pick for PLD. MTL will just wait it out till next year and if we miss out on him to another team then so what.

I think the value is right but I don't see MTL dealing those players or that 5th pick

Ooooh yeah that would be a dream. But I can't see FLA letting him go. I read that MTL isn't interested in Carter Hart. When I read that I was like WHY?!?! I think Carter Hart is very much what MTL needs. a goalie who would be part of the rise of the Habs. MTL would have their core forwards, their franchise goalie. now build the D corps and you have something really good there.

Yeah if MTL misses out on PLD but keeps Dach, Suzuki, and Caufield, that is a major win. PLD will sign a 8 year deal with a team and MTL will have missed out on him. There will be no wait till next year.

I wrote this earlier: The kid is broken, 22, born in Darien, CT and played at Boston College (Kent Hughes backyard). KH can promise his parents the Habs would take good care of their kid. Rehabilitation project 2023.

Idk if FLA are willing to move on and the nature of Knight's personal problems, but if I were KH I would test the waters.

Yeah that's more what I think he's worth the Fla 1st Anderson and really whatever prospects (2-3) if they are not named Salfkovsky or Hutson which leaves a lot to choose from. There would need to be some dollars transferred which is taken care of by Anderson. Then of course if PLD wound stick around 8 mm aav after all this you would hope he would.

Well yeah, but there are very few reasonable trades on here involving Newhook so I just wanted to hammer home my point.
