lol no.

Canes dont move that picks picks in trades. Veljmelka had a decent start to the season but he fell off. he isnt close to worth this level of a deal. he hasnt had a single .900 save year.

Need to get Laf over 5 to be successful

Fair enough about the picks... a 1 for 1 should be able to get him
I think Veljmelka would be a good fit for the Hurricanes because:
1. He's very analytically good (6.98 GSAx)
2. He'll be much better when he's behind a defense like the Hurricanes
3. He's long-termed signed at a pretty reasonable cap hit

I agree about the over pay for Vejmelka
I'm expecting Turbo get's dealt at the trade deadline and he'll end up as a top-six winger

Is this hypothetical or did he actually request a trade?

That is not a unmatchable offersheet for Chris Drury. And I be surprised if not a core player is moved this off-season too.

He did last season... according to Cory Lavalette

goalies are voodoo and dont carry value on the market because of their volatility. most goalies will be better behind our defense. no need to pay a heavy price.

Given the Rangers' cap situation a $4.5m per year hit for Laf is not an offer sheet that is going to be matched

Interesting. I would be all for him being acquired by Detroit.

You think they won't buyout Goodrow? Haha yeah your "offer" is better? 😅👍

I think the Hurricanes would only move him for an elite scorer or a cost-controlled good goalie and Detroit doesn't have anybody that would be available in either category

Yeah... a $4.5x5 is a pretty generous offer sheet considering his stunted development. Even with buying out Goodrow you still have $15m to sign 7 roster players... that's not a lot. Lafrierre is going to be a lot like KK... we have to develop that player because his previous team botched it

On the flip side, is anybody going to trade an elite scorer or cost controlled good goalie for Jack Drury?

I mean as part of a package deal... I'm not insane. The Hurricanes would probably have to deal him and Tuevo in the same package

Yeah I can see that... the only problem is that Kubalik would probably have to come with an extension

Oh, I know. But what I mean is that he's likely of very little value in a trade for someone like that, and would just be an extra piece on top of the significant trade pieces needed (1st/prospect/etc).

Yes it is, but seriously 39 points on 81 games on top 9 role isn't horrible. And I do believe he gets traded in that case for a team looking for a fast rebuild and get more. Or for someone still on RFA that wants to play elsewhere. And you put him on top 9 here too. Laffy isn't signing offersheet to continue play top 9 min. You can be sure about that 👍

I mean $4.5m is more than he's probably going to get anywhere else. Like I said earlier this would probably end with Tuevo getting traded so that Laf can get top-six minutes with KK and Jarvis.

That is not how you draw it up. Besides much more likely to outside of the division anyway. I know CAR is a offersheet kind of a organisation. But I be casing other players than Laffy.
