It’s somewhat concerning that 2 Canadian teams are being forced to jettison or lose 3 pieces + or their cores.

Laughton seems like a silly acquisition for the Blues. With as much firepower they have right now, I’d prefer as a Blues fan that the target was not 29 years old. Plus, with his cap hit you’d think one of the more cap strapped teams would be aggressive. But his price still seems a bit high. Yes high. The problem is at last trade deadline so many 1sts were traded. If you want draft capital now there is a small market of sellers. The price should be sky high by anybody holding a 1st right now. There’s only a few willing to give them up and everybody wants them.

I’d hope if Laughton goes to STL that he is only a piece of something else.

Gotta agree here. Imo Laughton goes as a perfect kind of solution for a top contender, for the remainder of a year or two (kinda similar to Coleman). I don't see him being the target for a team in the middle of a retool, just feels like that's going to end up pretty bad.

Blues are a cap-strapped team with needs at center. I think they feel that with Winnipeg and Calgary imploding they have a shot at making playoffs if they add a few pieces. Unless they can dump cap space they have to live within a tight budget for additions and they have "extra" draft capital.

8th seed in the West really comes down to St. Louis vs Nashville vs Vancouver vs Winnipeg vs Calgary. Pretty much a crap-shoot at this point and Florida just proved all you have to do is get in the playoffs and see what happens.

I’m disappointed because jerseys like hockey fights cancer or military appreciation jersey are gone because of that. At least no one can accuse the league of having a double standard I guess?

All in all this is a fine move, no one wants to tune into a game to have this stuff shoved down their throats. The whole point of sports is so we can get away from that kind of thing. Glad the league is realizing this.
