Habs fans are going to be in shambles when he’s dealt with an extension to Boston.

That's an awfully generous "face facts" for Chevy. That's 4 NHL pieces for a player who, at most, they can control for one more year. If anyone needs to face facts, it's probably PLD. Does he want maximum dollars or does he want to be a king of Montreal? Chances are, he won't get both. And if the salary is too high, the compensation back to WPG will be minimal.

What does Boston have to compete with that deal?

Dvorak cap dump (28 point player coming off knee surgery making 9 mill over the next two years is a cap dump yes), cancels out norlinder.

Beck+late 1st isn't that big a haul

Losing PLD means you need a Centre, Dvorak fills that need for the immediate futur and his deal isn't that bad there's only 2 years left. Beck is a highly touted prospect by the MTL brass he's the forward who's closest to playing in the NHL and a late first is pretty much what the jets would get from another team interested in Dubois (Contender). Norlinder is simply a throw in at that point but he still has possible upside.

4.5 mill in UFA can find you better than a 28 point guy (3C on a bad team) coming off knee surgery

Boston don’t have the cap space to sign Dubois at 9 millions. I could see Carolina or Colorado but not Boston

I agree it's not a big haul, but it's an appropriate haul given the circumstances. Beck is a stud. I'd be open to sending Harris or Struble instead of Norlinder. Harris is absolutely NHL ready, whereas Struble is a seriously good athlete but needs more development. I don't think Norlinder's top will end up being good enough. If Harris were the choice, I'd drop the #31 pick to the #37.

They probably do if Bergeron retires and/or they move Taylor Hall.

I think it's a decent rental offer, whether it gets beaten or not just depends on Winnipegs internal ratings on prospects. if theres 4-5 teams offering, I don't think this would get it done.

The Jets can't get anyone in free agency, I don't mind this at all for the Jets.

No it's not a bad deal at all. Beck+1st is a decent rental offer, but habs fans keep acting like Dvorak is some valuable piece. He's a mediocre 3C and that was before he got knee surgery

Honestly I don't mind this for Winnipeg, would probably try to grind for something different then Norlinder but otherwise I think it's fine and for the love of gawd my fellow Jets fans, NO the Jets will NOT get a better return then this at the TDL for Dubois.

Agreed, but I doubt there are 4-5 teams offering to take PLD for 8 years after having seen him demand to be traded twice already. It's very possible PLD has soured on the idea of coming to Montreal after the club didn't drop everything and trade for him last year, at which point Boston, NYR and a few others might seriously test the waters.

I think with better linemates he can be a 45-55 point center, Ehlers dragged 36 year old Stastny to a 50 point pace and Copp made his bank playing with Ehlers, if Nic and Dvorak can stay healthy Dvorak could be a passable 2C for a year or two which is fine.
I just don't know what better anyone else thinks the Jets can get for Dubois or where they'll get a 2C to replace him, they can't sign guys in free agency so that eliminates O'Reilly for example, its just the way it is so getting Dvorak wouldn't be that bad, he's signed for two years and the Jets aren't going anywhere for two years anyway so its fine imo, gives guys like Lucius and Lambert some time to marinate in junior/AHL who are hopefully future top 6 centers.

I disagree with that assesment, he's a 27 year old who's never cracked 40 and is now off a knee surgery. I think he'd be lucky to crack 30 and I think any team playing him as a 2C is in a terrible spot, he might be the worst 2C in hockey

His career numbers say otherwise but whatever, no the worst 2C in hockey would be Adam Lowry and thats what the Jets are looking at possibly happening.. 🤣

He just had 28 points, IS COMING OFF A KNEE SURGERY. Lowry is your 3C. Trading your 2C and saying he's better than your 3C doesn't make him better. Of guys under contract/rfa rn only Chicago doesn't have a better 2C, let alone all the current FAs better such as Compher, Haula, O'reilly, Domi, Staal etc, and the rookies such as bedard, fantilli, carlsson, smith.
