No, of course Marner doesn't get that heavy of a return from the Kings.

Not like anyone coming back has proven or projected to be the star that Marner is.

That is god awful for LA! LA can't afford Marner. Why do Toronto fans think they can just drop their overpriced players on teams that don't need them or have the cap space. Let alone get the teams 3 top prospects. This is just laughable. I'd rather have all 3 of those guys at way less of a contract than Marner has. Toronto fans are going to be very mad when they don't get close to a package like they keep putting on here lol

P.s. sorry for the sane Leaf fans that have to deal with the crazy ones on a daily basis

Lol. This is a fantasy website pal. You wish you had a playmaker like Marner. Hope you’re feeling better after your rant!

In any trade with Marner, which isn't happening at least 4 pieces are coming to the leafs. Leafs aren't trading their best PK forward, QB of the PP, best playmaker, best 2-way player. Marner makes everyone better he plays with, Matthews, Willie or JT don't. Since JT has become a leaf, Marner has the most playoff points on the team. Matthews and Willie have played the same amount of games as Marner and JT has played 12 less games. If Marner doesn't perform in the playoffs, what about the other 3.

Not much consideration about the Kings cap. Gross overpay for one year of Matthews by Arizona.

laugh Coyotes won't be in Arizona for much longer, So Matthew to Arizona isn't happening.

Byfield+Clarke+Vilardi > Marner, Anaheim passes. No reason to make that deal.

If Ottawa won't trade DeBrincat to Detroit within the division, They sure as hell aren't trading him to Toronto. That's a lame offer doesn't get him And Toronto isn't on DeBrincats list of desirable teams.

Right now, only Quinton Byfield counts against the Kings' main roster cap total, so this trade would add $10 million in cap to a team that has no cap space after finishing out the roster now (i.e., BEFORE any Marner trade). As a result, any Marner trade is mathematically impossible, never mind any considerations of whether Los Angeles would be willing to trade three core members of its future for two years of Marner or that this kind of exchange constitutes a reversal of the philosophies on which the teams have been built.

It always amuses me that having conducted this experiment since 2016 and seen the unequivocal results, Toronto fans now want to exchange a big-ticket star on an expiring contract for three or four future stars with an equivalent aggregate cap hit (which this numerically foolish trade doesn't even accomplish) and expect the other team to accept the transfer of future to now. Do you really think that Los Angeles would be interested in a trade which leaves the Kings nothing in two seasons, just when Byfield, Vilardi and Clarke are maturing into high-quality players?!?!?

They’re good, but Marner is a star. The guys in return aren’t, and likely won’t be on his level. You’re right about the cap considerations though. Leafs would have to take on Doughty or Danault or something.

Well Arizona negotiates with him, and they know his $$$$ and term, the Coyotes tell him just wait a year and sign with the Coyotes and Schmaltz, Cooley, Velmelka and the first rounder are all Coyotes.
So, you're telling me the Leafs in effect tell Matthews, they don't want him, and then the Leafs have no chance of signing or even trade him possibility with his NMC in effect July 1sst

He gets traded at the draft? With a verbal agreement to an extension July 1? Who knows what will happen. Not like the Yotes are a well run organization, they very well could try to get the hometown kid to try and salvage the franchise.

I don't whats in for Matthews to sign in such a bad hockey market as Arizona. Gee, the Coyotes don't even sell out when Matthews plays one game a year in Arizona, it seems fantasy that they are going have 41 near sell out games a year even with Matthews.
