Sens can get more for CAT in my opinion. Mantha is a cap dump. So essentially your only getting a 1st for him

I personally wouldn't do any of this, pretty bad for Ottawa in general. Only move I'd be interested is signing Raanta (and the RFAs)

DeBrincat + Brannstrom PLUS taking Mantha's dump is worth much more than the 8th OA pick

Why do you pass on that?

I mean, it's the 24th OA pick and you have a chance to get a better pick than that next year, particularly if the GM is still Dorion and the coach is still DJ Smith

i think trotz is interested in trading up this year, or using one of our two firsts to acquire somebody to help our retool.

Adding Karlsson, Michkov and Oliver Bonk would be the absolute best case scenario off season for the sens. Having Michkov on his ELC in a few years while the rest of the core forwards are under contract already would be unreal for the sens.

I can’t see Trotz opting to make that trade when the draft is in Nashville this season. Would probably be a better draft pick, but I think he’ll want to make a splash in the 1st round this year— first year as GM + draft in Nashville.

If Michkov is there at 8 there is no way WSH trades that pick. I don't see Michkov being there at 8 though so maybe a draft night trade could happen once Matvei is off the board and the Sens could get one of Benson/Moore or another good prospect. It would have to be 1 for 1 though cuz the sens can't be taking on Mantha and shouldn't trade Brannstrom as he brings so much to their lineup for likely under 1.5M.

There’s a metric ton wrong here.
1. Washington isn’t going to ADD Mantha to the 8th Overall Pick and decrease the value of the pick to dump Mantha, that’s stupid.
2. Washington isn’t going to offer 8th Overall for DeBrincat who is a questionable fit in their lineup.

There’s not really anything in this trade that DOES work for Washington.
