I think we establish a few parameters:

#1: Washington is the ONLY team willing to trade their 1st Round Pick within the Top 10
- there are other players than Bratt who they could target, other teams will make a push to pry the pick away

#2 Washington DOES NOT trade the pick if Michkov is on the board (I don’t need to explain)

#3 Washington only trades 8OA if it addresses acquiring a top line winger, while simultaneously freeing up cap space (dumping Mantha)
- it’s a historically deep draft, why not ask for a historically good return?

hahah ummm yeah, sure. Thank you for stating some obvious points...

I think any hockey fan will agree with those points - but the trade above is not close in value.

Just wanted to clarify for all. I obviously agree that the Caps would absolutely refuse this trade, hence the post I made earlier.

1) Bratt is the better player

2) Bratt is the younger player

3) The Capitals DESPERATELY need speed in their top 6

4) The Capitals still receive a 2nd round pick in the 2023 Draft in this trade

Just FYI, Wilson is one of the fastest skaters in the Caps' top 6, and would probably become the fastest if Kuznetsov's traded. If the goal is a faster top 6, moving Wilson in the process doesn't make sense.
