Not an awful offer, but considering the Canes need more scoring, I can't see a reason to move a 1/2 a PPG player for futures. Especially one of the core pieces of the team.

Value wise it seems like a nice deal but yah, there’s not much of a reason of Carolina to move him for futures. If he’s coming to Toronto it’s via a Marner or Nylander trade, I would think.

If the Canes had no cap space this would make sense but they do have a lot of cap space so there's no real reason to trade a good player away for iffy assets.

Or a Matthews trade... probably not, but still...

Gee, Leafs aren't paying a first, especially on a one year of Tevo. At 5.4m lot better options.

What's the point in TO doing that though? A major downgrade so what, we can add a 30 point defenceman in Peace? Nah keep the core and find better supporting cast.

Yeah you guys are not getting any core piece from TO. What you have that would be enough to get one of the core, you won't want to give up. Spoiler alert Turbo and Pesce are not moving the needle.

Awww are you back here to overrate Toronto players? You know there's a whole part of Twitter you can do that with? Or the Reddit? If you want Carolina's core pieces (a core that has been more successful than Toronto's) it's likely going to take Toronto's core pieces. Not spare parts

Are the Canes looking to trade him? I'm entirely basing this off rumours I've seen that the Canes are shopping him for cap reasons, are they just a load of crap or is there any truth to them?

It's pretty rich to say I am overrated Leaf players when you still think a 30 point defenceman is somehow more valuable than point a game 40 goal scorers.

I just wouldn't bother with this guy. He'll just make the same dumb cliche points every time.

‘Cap reasons’ would be extension related for future years. I could see him being a part of a trade for a better 6 forward, a piece for some futures which could be used in a different trade, or literally just staying put. Turbo is a good player, I just don’t see him as a needle mover in a trade.

If that’s the case I’d just hold onto him if I were you

Well obviously it wouldn’t just be one for one. Yes Pesce would likely be involved in a hypothetical swap like that. Or if it was Nylander maybe just picks/prospects. But I highly disagree about keeping the core. At least one has to go. Can’t keep this crap up year after year and keep running it back. That’s the definition of insanity.

I’d be very surprised at this point if Matthews is traded, seems like there is interest from him on a shorter term deal, which honestly might be fine. But yes in a hypothetical Matthews trade that too.

What cap reasons? Carolina have more cap space this summer than Toronto with fewer free agents.
