Would be a complete failure of an offseason

It would be a pretty big missed opportunity to not address the holes on this team. The forwards were scoring fine last year, could have maybe used some more help on d, specifically from the centers. The d, frequently got hemmed in their own end, and made shockingly bad decisions, also they got kinda owned in front of their own net. All of this led to track meet hockey games, fun to watch, tough to consistently win. The goalies, especially upl and comrie, were below average, but were frequently left hung out to dry. Now is the time to add some pieces.

Totally agree - and also not likely to be worried about. If Regier were still running the show, inactivity followed by endless excuses of "what the market would bear" after pledging to make improvements would be expected but everything that Adams has said so far on what he would do (or try to do) has actually happened (or been widely reported as having happened). There are far too many media reports around the league about the Sabres shopping for a defenseman and goaltending help. Not every fan may end up liking the eventual choices that Adams will make but I have 100% confidence that, by training camp, Adams will have added at least to those 2 positions and subtracted 2-3 current players off the roster. There's no real need for the roster to go to the E.R. for major surgery like is the case with a lot of other teams - they just need a nip and tuck here and there through an outpatient visit.

I also suspect that the additions will come via both routes - probably a trade for a goalie and a free agent signing on defense.
