In terms of expansion draft picks, this was a terrible one. That being said, in a vacuum, getting a depth defenseman from Las Vegas for a flat 1 mil, and only one season, is fine. Nothing too bad.

Engelland is from Las Vegas and at the end of his career. They're not gambling the future to win right away, and he suits a team that needs players who can keep the team stable on the ice while engaging the community outside the rink.

This is no David Clarkson contract

I never got the Engelland thing remember when he ended up on Flames thought it was kinda dumb... Seen him as a goon who can play forward/Defense personally. This guy could have been gotten on the open market I think easily. So not getting a draft pick or taking a player like maybe Brouwer or so seems like a bad move to me. This the only other right shooting D-man on team besides Miller. Maybe next they will be signing John Scott the All Star MVP wink. I would like to see him come to Vegas so I'm not just picking on him, he has size, can play forward or defense smile.
