Canes pass. Olafsson had a good year but his hockey IQ is pretty low and it wouldn’t fit well in our system

He wouldn’t be worth more than a 4th at full hit or a 3rd at 50% retention to us due to fit. Scoring goals isn’t everything

A middle-six guy, and a second for one of our better defensemen... that's not enough value for Pesce. The starting price for Pesce is a first, a younger or comparable defenseman, or two of your team's top-10 prospect

Pesce is on a expiring contract as a ufa while Oolf will be a rfa. Could definitely throw one of the forward prospects in the Sabres have a plethora of them.

I know scoring isn't everything but I think Oolf could step in and play a big roll in Car. I'm also not sure if they Pursue Pesce's new deal cause he deserves a raise.

Even if the canes don't extend Pesce (which I think is unlikely, he is going to be extended), he has more value to the canes as a 1 year rental due to his very good defensive play and knowledge of RBAs system.

I mean the Sabers could probably keep Oolf in the deal... I was thinking that the Sabers could send back Ryan Johnson and Isak Rosen to help restock the prospect pool and give some room for the Hurricanes defensive prospect who could possible make the roster in the next few years

Olafsson had a good season but still negatively rated offensively. He had another very poor defensive season. Olafsson at best would be a 4LW for depth scoring and PP time.

Olofsson will be a ufa.

This is a bad trade for pesce. I'd include our 1st and I would retain on olofsson

I think we're going to either lose him or Skjei and we should get something back for it. We can bring up defensemen who know the system really well to be a stop-gap 3rd pairing guy

I think we'll trade Skjei because while his 18 goal season will increase his value, the FO won't see it as replicable. It creates a bit of a hole on the left side, but I think both Pesce and the canes him in Carolina.

I agree that Skjei is probably going to get you more value... I think we could maybe get somebody like Evan Bouchard RFA rights... he's like 23 and already pretty good
