Yup there's 0 reason to give up Trenin for mid round picks. It's not like he doesn't have a roster spot or makes too much money

After this playoffs, Barbachev is going to cost more. They mentioned in JM show on Sportsnet, he is at looking at the Nichushkin contract as a starting point at 8 x 6.125. probably takes 8 x 6.5 to get him.

What? Trenin does have a roster spot, and his contract's good value. I was surprised the arbitrator went that low with Trenin, when it came on the heels of Engvall signing for over $2M.

NSH has moved away from the Charleston Chiefs style they went with two years ago, but they still need someone other teams should be afraid of. With Jeannot, Olivier, Boroweicki all gone and McCarron more likely to be an AHL fixture next season, that role will be Trenin's.

If NSH is out of contention again next season then sure - sell him at the deadline. No reason to do it before the season for some meh picks, while retaining salary to boot.

Is Barbashev really at $5m x 5 years? That seems like the kind of deal that will later be dumped.

And Gudas play-style is opposite on the system the Devils have used the last couple of years. He is great at what he does, but would be fish out of water in New Jersey. Fitzy wants long, mobile dmen who can close gaps, hold up transition defensively and hang onto puck to buy forwards an extra half-second on exits into transitions. Beggars can’t be choosers on a 1-year deal…but I feel like there are others that would sync better here.

Ya think? 99% of the comments on CF are usually negative (I'm guilty of it too, much too often), so that's how I instinctively read it. If I got it wrong, my apologies to @jtrevethan22.
