Think this is reasonable ask but can't see Carolina wanting to take on that contract number for a player that's going to be a bottom 6 winger with their roster.

I agree, but KK makes a little less and he's a bottom 6 guy, even if they try to play him at 2C.

Vancouver will take this all day long. I'm not sure garland is the difference maker CAR is looking for though.

Definitely. A bottom 6 for sure, but I think Carolina wouldnt mind taking the chance to see if he can turn it around.

The worry is, $5M is a lot to pay for a bottom 6 winger. And if it doesn't work, it's a 3 year mistake. CAR has bigger fish to fry like finding a #1 goaltender (I don't think Kochetkov is ready for that responsibility). And they need to figure out who's coming and going with all the RFA's and UFA's coming up next year.

Makes less, is younger and still growing into his body/game, and plays down the middle. Canes would be more than happy for him to stick at 3C moving forward with that contract.

This is not to slam Garland, I think there is some potential there for a player entering his peak physical years, would just be more enticing if 1-1.5M was retained.
