I think they will be patient with Slaf. You can see the potential, it's there... it's all about fine tuning - just remember Jack Hughes (0.344 ppg) and Lafrenière (0.375 ppg) firt seasons... similar PPG than Slaf (0.256ppg).

And contextually, Slaf had to adapt from the European ice to the NA ice and type of play.

Plus he was playing at 238lbs instead of his 218lbs... which slowed him down quite a lot.

No reasonable person will roast you for Dach and another 1st as the add-to 5th OA. That is already quite the package.

Lots of reactive tweeners on this site - they will roast you senseless... then turn around and offer up the worst trade the world has ever seen.

I'm sure most would say it's not enough, but to move up to 2d ovr, I would offer:
1-5th Ovr
2-Harris or Xhekaj
3-Top 5 protected 2024 pick

This idea is the opposite of what MTL should do and I hate that it keeps getting publicity. In order for ANA to consider trading that pick we have to gut our top young talent and add a couple 1sts. Why not just fold the franchise and mail it in? Fantilli is great but if we're going to have to restart the rebuild, not a chance in hell imo. I'll try trading for 3OA if the price isn't an arm, leg and 1st born child for 3 generations but it's completely useless to trade everything we have to move up a couple spots.

I get your point but having Fantilli would fix our 1C problem and we wouldnt have to give the moon to a guy like PLD

But if Dach can become a 1B center like suzuki, that's already pretty good IMO

I personally would take Dach+5+31 for 2OA.

I'm satisfied with Anaheims depth down the middle in three of McTavish-Zegras-Lundestrom-Gaucher. Dach fills an organizational need at RW.

Even moving Zegras to the wing could look like

Jones/someone-lundestrom-Dach
Comtois-Gaucher-Regenda

What you posted initially was not a low-ball offer, but mightn't have been exactly what Anaheim needs. Dach (who was a 3rd overall) and the #5 for Fantilli is a very fair offer. If you wanted to sweeten it, the Habs #37 pick would be more than enough. Beyond that, you're taking one step up and one step back.
