I know it's easy to poke holes in this based on last year's numbers but at the end of the day. Carolina ran out of steam in the playoffs. they could really use a goal scorer like Debrincat. necas would really keep things moving with someone like Norris.

sincerely a biased Sens fan

Great for the Senators but terrible for the Hurricanes.

Sens win in cap space yes but let’s not act like cat isn’t the better player. hurricanes ran outta juice late in the playoffs and an elite goal scorer like cat would’ve helped.

Brady Stu Giroux and Necas Norris Batherson as your top 6 is just as elite and after a necas extension would still be around 2-3 mil cheaper. I honestly love this trade for both sides

Necas is the better player. He's much bigger, can play center or wing plus he had more points, more goals and more assists than Debrincat this year. If you want to talk about the past ask yourself this: How many more points goals and assists would Necas have gotten in the past if he had Patrick Kane playing with him?

Yeah the Hurricanes ran out of gas late in the playoffs but at least they made the playoffs and won a couple rounds before bowing out... Unlike Debrincat and the Senators.

Make up your mind first you say Debrincat is better then you not only imply Necas is "just as elite" but say he'll cost significantly less too (which in turn implies Debrincat will be overpaid). You can't have it both ways.

This is where the issue is on this trade. You can't love the trade for both sides becasue the scales tip in OTT favor in all aspects. Cat is gonna want 8-9M. Necas is $3M this year and team controlled for another 3 on a $6M or less bridge deal. Personally, I don't trust Cat. He was in an excellent top 6 last year and only put up 66 pts, half of them being on the PP and had less points than a 35 year old Giroux.

CAR rejects this trade all day long. Necas drives play. Debrincat does not. Necas is decent in the defensive end. Debrincat is not. Necas has a steal of a contract. Debrincat does not.
