The UFA signings are way too favorable to Vancouver.

If Garland is viewed by other GM's as an asset that will cost Vancouver to move, there is no chance Winnipeg moves their best RHD prospect for him.

Wheeler wants out and Winnipeg needs good players with term. Winnipeg would need to add lots to get rid of that contract. Salmonsson is a B prospect with injury issues.

Not much cap space and poor UFA market. These aren't the tier 1 UFAs either

I'm sure those players will give up millions for the sake of the Canucks franchise.

The Jets probably would need to add almost as much to Wheeler as Vancouver would need to add to move Garland. The Jets would just buy Wheeler out as opposed to replacing him with a worse, longer term contract and paying a premium to do it.

Yes because other teams are going to pay them millions when they’re capped out.

Yes other organizations will pay them more and most players will take the money more often than not.

You may be right wrt Wheeler. I think Winnipeg isn’t looking to rebuild and needs good players on term. I could be wrong. Garland is a much better player than Wheeler right now. But this only works if my assumptions are right.

Look at the projections on this very site. Monahan is one year at 2 million. Engvall is 4 years at 4.1. Schenn is one year at 1.6. you are magically making a lot of money disappear on projected signings.

Yes because this site is so accurate.

Schenn would take 2 years at 1.2 vs 1.6 for one particularly in Vancouver.

Nobody is giving Monohan 2mm with his injury history.

You may be right that Engvall gets more, but nothing close to your 4 years at 4.1mm.

Those are not my projections. Those are based off of analytics that will be infinitely more accurate than your 60% Vancouver discount across the board.

I'm not sure any team is going to take on the full $8.250 mm. Jets would need to add picks and top level prospects which I'm sure they wouldn't do.

Garland is not worth his contract I'd rather buy out wheeler keep solomonsson and use the cap for a ufa that would go to the jets or pay us to take Garland but no they won't be trading anything for Garland and I'd want a 2nd attached to take him
