I still hope Lou will dump Bailey with a 2nd. I've seen so many NYI and CHI posts agreeing. Idc which year that 2nd is.

Pens aren't trading 14 for a dump and Blackwell isn't a good player.

You aern't trading 14, you're trading 5 slots in the draft

I would take going back five spots and a third just to clear Granlund and get back a serviceable 4th liner.

Serviceable 4th liners are 900k in FA. No need to trade for one. Granlund buyout is 800k this year and 1.8MM for two years after that. Peanuts. I would rather have the best prospect than paltry savings.

None of these prospects matter to the current core. And moving back five spots could easily result in selecting the exact same targeted prospect. The savings of not buying out Granlund is much greater than the additional cost of Blackwell. Though I agree in not having Blackwell at all if possible. Also seems apparent Dubas is not interested in buying him out until maybe the next buyout window so he must believe he can be moved.

No, but Dubas was explicit that he was trying to win now but also avoid a super big rebuild.

I would agree that if the Pens don't love the prospect at 14 and think "their guy" will be there at 19, they could trade down. But I suspect they would rather gain draft capital than cap space.

You could be right. All of that said, I suspect they would have no interest in Blackwell.
